What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ross - Verified booking

The Old Forge surpasses all expectations.

The fusion of antiques, history and luxurious modern facilities is perfect. The owners personal descriptions of the history of the family, the house and the art within gives the visitor a relaxed feeling of being included. A beautiful family house, it was perfect for three generations meeting for a wedding held locally. The kitchen had everything a large group require for food preparation and dining. All instructions and descriptions are simple and relative to a visitors requirements. Elaine was most helpful and all instructions prior to arrival were both friendly and timely. It is a privilege to be allowed to share the experience in such a beautiful house and we are bound to return. In a world where photographs usually flatter to deceive, those of the Old Forge in some respects do not reflect the essence of this beautiful property.

Lovely lodge but could do with a spruce up .

. area outside where hot tub is the fence could do with a paint, very tired and nothing like the pics. The hot tub too much chlorine Inside the fridge top shelf was grimy at the back and the freezer door was broken every time you opened it, it fell off The glasses in the cupboard were dirty had to re wash them all also the tea cups. Old crumbs inside the drawer. In the bedroom there was a half eaten Kit Kat in one of the bedside drawers. For the money we paid, we expected it to be spotless and in mint condition so slightly disappointed. Attention to detail vital and lacking Only two bath towels left, even though there was also the hot tub, and when asked for more, was only given one However the Prosecco and the cupcakes were a nice touch and the bed was comfy.

We've stayed here before so we knew how delightful the Old Forge is and we immediately felt a sense of calm and relaxation when we arrived; the usual welcome hamper and lovely flowers on the dining room table set the scene There were a couple of minor gripes about the central heating coming on in the middle of the night but only the temperature controls are available to tenants - not the frequency or duration - and a power cut that happened to the whole of Bashall Eaves caused the house alarm to beep continuously until we managed to get the access code from the housekeeper, but these were just little irritations and the central heating problem was resolved during our stay Overall we had a lovely time and am sure we'll be booking again

We absolutely loved our stay at Deer Lodge from start to finish.

The lodge is compact and cosy and you have everything you need. The welcome gifts were much appreciated. The toiletries etc are of high quality. The hosts are really friendly but not intrusive. It is so peaceful and quiet but close enough to walk to the local pub for food and drink, which was very very good. There is so much to do in the area that one week was not enough, so we will have to return at some point :-) The hot tub was great to relax in after our many walks. We realised why it is called Deer Lodge when we spotted deer in the next field on several occassions. If you are thinking about booking Deer Lodge - just do it! You will not regret it.

For us this house is as close to perfect for a quiet break is it is possible to get.

Amazingly well-equipped and spotlessly clean, it would say that 'It's just like home', but of course it's better than that because it's located in one of Britain's loveliest, quietest and least populated areas. There is simply nowhere to equal the Ribble Valley and the Bowland fells. Forget what other counties say, Lancashire has them all beat but we just don't shout about it like others do. (But I was born in Lancashire so there is a slight elemnet of bias in my opinions) Sykes is our favourite holiday operator having never provided anyhting less than excellent service during all of the years during which we have dealt with them. Say no more.
