"One hour into stay sink trap came away, which was loosely screwed on with silicone, flooding the kitchen. Of the the two owners, the first one we spoke to was adamant, she could not get this fixed, as it was bank holiday weekend and impossible to get hold of a plumber. we should just put bucket under the sink, but did not explain hoe we should dispose of the waste water. Having inspected the trap i pulled up the rubber seal and re screwed it, lucky for us the procedure worked. If this was a bad start , it got worst. The hot water was a huge problem. The water hardly made it through the the shower head and you had to almost get up against the wall to get some water on ones body. What we learned was even wore, in the morning before 10am, the pressure was so low we hardly got any water, and certainly no water from the shower head. We then learned that you can get one bucket full of water and then wait another 10 min before you can get hot water again. If you happen to be in the shower and if the dish washer or some one else happens to turn the hot water tap you loose all pressure and are left waiting again for ages. at one time we boiled the in saucepans and completed our ablutions. The electric heater in the middle bedroom, difficult to work and at best worked for a very short time only. Forcing our elderly parents to move rooms. we also spoke to the seond owner and she, i felt, was much more empathetic and had some come over to look at the water pressure situation. thanks for that. Unfortunately, it was after 10am and off course, he only experienced the water flow for few min, certainly before the tank emptied. Great location, super views but the most important thing which we needed to work, water, didn't."

"A lovely part of the world: we enjoyed some great walks in Dartmoor, visited Buckland Abbey which is literally right outside the village of Milton Combe, and had a day at the coast at Wembury which is just 40 minutes' drive away. The village itself is very peaceful and set in a deep valley so you really feel like you've got away from it all. The local pub ('Who'd Have Thought It') served stunning food - we went there three nights in a row. Because the village is so small, there isn't a shop in it, but you don't have to drive very far to find one. The cottage was nice and cosy, especially once we had lit the wood fire. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were fine. We didn't cook at all so can't really say much about the kitchen, though the toaster could do with being replaced. Dishwasher and washing machine both worked OK. In a perfect world there would be a garden out the back that the dog could be let into, but that is impossible given the location - the slope behind the row of cottages is almost vertical. Not a major issue, though, as it is easy to walk the dog around the village and there is almost no traffic to worry about."

"We were pleasently surprised by how spacious and confortable the property was. There was plenty of room for us and our four children and the two large 3 seater leather sofas were ideal. There is a very large hot water tank meaning we could all shower without running out of water. There was some nice touches, like some puzzles and board games to keep the kids entertained, loads of tourist information and vacuum cleaners upstairs and down. Having the bedrooms downstairs meant they stayed cool. The property is situated a 2 minute walk from both the Bar & Resturant and the inside and outside swimming pools (free use of the pools and small gym is included).Honicombe Manor is a lovely quiet resort with varying sizes of holiday apartments on it and has some good views over the Tamar Vally. There is also a small shop on the site, which was useful. The site is well situated for visiting both Devon and Cornwall and we may well stay there again in the future"

" Whilst it was a drive to most places it was no longer than and hour and a half to the main towns like st ives! The cottage was presented lovely and in a great location with a lovely balcony and running stream alongside. The pool and gym facilities and pub restaurant on site were lovely and the owners very friendly. I would definitely book this cottage again and book through Sykes. The only thing I wish they had was a washing machine or cleaners so that we could get clean towels and wouldn’t need to go to the laundrette on holiday. They have a dish washer but I think most people especially with children like myself would appreciate a washing machine. This was the only gripe and I would take more towels next time and more clothes. Overall loved this holiday so much and would highly recommend 42 valley lodge cottage on Honicombe valley park "

"The accommodation was lovely. I was less impressed with the fact that one of the neighbours obviously has a key to the garage and entered the garage whilst we were in to check what was in the bins to put them out!!! I found this a little disturbing and wondered if they had other keys to gain access to the property??? I had already decided that we weren't putting the bins out on Friday morning as we had only arrived on Wednesday night and there seemed little point since there was only paper in the bin, so no point in putting an essentially empty plastic bag out."
