What our customers say about their holidays

    • Peter - Verified booking

Lovely bungalow on a residential street.

Wonderfully comfortable beds and bedding, great kitchen and fabulous sofa. Really liked the open plan living and dining area. We had a few interactions with the local duck and her ducklings, she got stuck between the bungalow and the fence so my Dad had to move some old fence panels that were in the gap and were stopping her escaping. Unfortunately a couple of negative comments. I wouldn't usually say anything but as a family we felt it significant. The bathroom really needs some attention, thick dust on the back of the doors & skirting boards and limescale on both sets of taps. The storage for clothes is frustrating, why is there a wardrobe in the single room but no clothes rail inside? The twin room only has under bed drawers. The double room is huge, with fabulous storage but we were 2 households so I didn't want to use that wardrobe in someone else's room. The garden really needs tidying, the grass hadn't been cut for a while and that made it hard to do a pick up after the dog. There were alot of weeds and it just made using the garden less welcoming. For someone with mobility issues, navigating these was just a little awkward. The next door bungalow, which initially we thought was being refurbished, really is a sight for sore eyes and let down the whole relaxed feel you want from a holiday let. When the temperature gets higher I would imagine the unpleasant odour will get worse. It does look like some of the decorating hasn't been completed, for instance there are nails in walls but no pictures. Be aware, if taking a dog, that access to the garden is through the double bedroom. We had a pleasant week but I'm afraid we wouldn't go back.

We all had the most amazing time, from the min we opened the door & saw how clean & spacious it was then to see the huge bed which looks brand new, was brilliant.

Absolutely everything you could want it provided. ( I always take fairy lights to light up garden to see where dogs ‘go’ but these weren’t needed as there’s 2 lots of outside lights )We stay in cottages a lot with our dogs & this is one of the best. The weather was wonderful too ( again we always pack for the worst weather but big coats weren’t needed ) The beaches are walkable however a cut through across the road then through the cemetery leads to a decent size Tesco with friendly staff & a bus stop so you can get one to Old Hunstanton which is fab with Le Strange arms hotel / bar that do a brill 2 courses for £15 , have to sit outside with dogs is only downside but again staff were brill & made sure our plates were really hot. You can then walk through to the most stunning beach & it goes on for miles & miles. I saw a few negative comments re the grass not being cut, I’d say , have a look in the little shed & do it if it bothers you that much, (we stay in cottages because it’s like being at home as opposed to a hotel , & things always need doing in a home ) Also we never saw any rats & our 2 dogs would have searched them out ! I wish I could post photos as we were lucky enough to see the northern lights & of course the wonderful red cliffs . A final mention to Lou who was brill, a welcome message to say it was ready early was great & she was available for any help . Literally can’t wait to come to come back ( love Hunstanton if you couldn’t tell ! )

      Fabulous location.

Easy reach of all amenities, five minute walk to seafront, pub/restaurant, supermarket and ten minute level walk to town/shops. The fairground was literally on the doorstep but we were never bothered with any noise whatsoever. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable and well laid out with a separate area with a shared washing machine and chest freezer. The setting is excellent, central but secluded for privacy. The outdoor seating area is great with a suntrap setting. This was a great base for exploring the wee gems of Norfolk and the local area. The owners left us some helpful tips on local eating places and we were never disappointed. The seafront promenade was excellent for walking to town and was clean as a whistle. The local council were out every morning sanitising all benches and hand-railings due to the current Covid-19 situation and gave us great peace of mind in these challenging times, well done Hunstanton Council. This was a great location for a short or extended break and we will certainly recommend it and we would not hesitate to return here. We will certainly recommend Sykes to our friends and family as their team were on the ball from start to finish with regular updates and advice for our holiday, well done, 10 out of 10.

Lovely oak beamed cottage just a short walk away from the beach, pub (Marstans) and supermarket (Tesco).

The place is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and nice furniture. The dressing table/drawers in the double room should be replaced by a slimline wardrobe like the one in the room with two singles as it's too messy having your clothes hanging around on the hooks. The kitchen is adequately equipped but would have benefited from a fridge with a freezer compartment rather than just a fridge. (I notice from "Alison" a previous reviewer that there was a shared freezer, washing machine and dryer, but I wasn't aware of this during our visit). The tap in the bathroom was almost impossible to switch off so reported this. I should have also reported that the big overhead shower doesn't work and that the vertical drawer next to the fridge is broken (hopefully these will be rectified soon). A note should be left about the fact the floor floods if you don't take the plate off the plug hole! There are some nice touches though... a small supply of tea bags, coffee and sugar when we arrived, along with dish soap, scourer, dish cloth and tea towel. There was also hand soap and air freshner in the bathroom. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay overall and managed to have supper out on the patio two nights of our stay.

I have to say that I was disappointed with the property and didn't feel it represented value for money.

The rain shower didn't work, all clogged up, the lower power shower, couldn't be used to its full potential because it flooded the bathroom, a good couple of inches in the whole bathroom. I called the owner to be told it does that, remove the drain cover and it should be ok here are a couple of towels to mop up the water. So I asked for a mop so I could mop the water up first then use the towels to dry off the floor to make it safe to walk on. The cupboard next to the fridge was broken and the fridge door bashed against it every time you opened and shut it. Couldn't get the central heating working so it was cold in the evenings. You were given a key for each french door but you couldn't operate one of them. Didn't like the clothes rail in front of the french door, this was instead of a wardrobe in the master bedroom. Thankfully the tap in the bathroom was replaced nearly at the end of our stay because we really struggled to turn it off and on. There was no where to put your showergel etc in the shower other than the floor. Would I go back again no.
