    Holiday Cottages in Derbyshire

Derbyshire is one of the most beautiful parts the UK, boasting some incredible scenery, notably the Peak District. It's also home to some picturesque towns and villages such as Bakewell and Chesterfield, and has a long heritage and charming character all of its own. If you're looking for accommodation that breaks the mould then you'll find lots of great holiday cottages in Derbyshire, from tasteful and spacious lodges to quaint little stone dwellings that are perfect for romantic escapes.

Holiday cottages in Derbyshire are a great choice if you're looking for something more than your average getaway. If you're looking for something larger for a group or family trip then there is plenty of choice. If you if you need a pet friendly option for you and your pampered pooch you're bound to find what you're looking for in Derbyshire.

Things to do on a Derbyshire cottage holiday

Predominantly a rural region, Derbyshire encompasses a large part of the Peak District, a stunning National Park that's characterised by rugged uplands and moorland, such as Kinder Scout. The area feels very remote and is the ideal spot for an adventure. There are lots of ways to explore the Peak District hiking, cycling and even on horseback. Stay in one of many pet-friendly holiday cottages in Derbyshire and your favourite friend can even come along with you.

Scattered throughout Derbyshire's rolling hills, you'll find lots of historic and picturesque towns and villages. Bakewell, for instance, is considered to be one of the finest towns in England and, yes, it is the birthplace of the Bakewell tart! If you're looking for something livelier, the city of Derby lies along the river Derwent and is awash with museums, galleries, and a magnificent Gothic cathedral.

Derbyshire is less touristy than somewhere like Cornwall or the nearby Lake District. But it's definitely worth exploring if you want a holiday to remember. The sheer number and quality of holiday cottages in Derbyshire makes this pretty part of the UK ideal for unforgettable family trips or romantic getaways.

Encompassing swathes of the Peak District, Derbyshire is a top place to stay. With luxury cottages on offer you can enjoy your next staycation in style. Whether it's as a romantic retreat or a family getaway, there will be a place for you in this lovely county.

The Peak District is, of course, a popular place to go in this county. With plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling, as well as stunning views; it's easy to see why. However, this isn't the only attraction of Derbyshire. Both in and out of the National park there are numerous pretty towns and villages in which to enjoy a luxury cottage holiday. It's just the place to unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Speedy - Verified booking

Beautiful and cosy little cottage in a lovely quiet village close to lots of places to visit and a perfect base for exploring the area. Owner and everyone in the village were friendly and helpful. Private garden to front was well used and lots of walks to be had from the front door. Smart TV and wifi worked well with half decent mobile signal. Kitchen well supplied and a cake and brew making gear provided on arrival and very welcome. Double bed was super comfy and shower nice and powerful. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth and plenty of other spots 15-20mins drive with great range of supermarkets, cafes and pubs. Highly recommend Chatsworth gardens for a day out and Ilam Hall was lovely. Lots of prehistoric sites in the area, Nine Sisters, Minninglow, Arbor Low and great photos to be had from Chrome Hill near Langnor. All in a great holiday for man and dog and would be happy to come back.

This was an idyllic place to stay. Situated perfectly in an area of outstanding beauty, wonderfully quiet, with everything you could need for an lovely holiday & close enough to get to everywhere you could possibly wish to visit in the Peak District & surrounding area. Close to local shops & the smashing market town of Wirksworth, a little gem of a place we only discovered on this visit, but the peaks are full of such places. We did loads of walking & got quite addicted to watching the cows go for milking each morning & evening. The owner is the perfect hostess, catering to her guests every need. We were reluctant to leave & will definitely be returning as soon as we can. If you are looking for a relaxed, get away from it all holiday, in a beautiful cottage then you will hit gold with the Little House.

    • Mr Spence - Verified booking

Little House is an absolutely first class accommodation. The house was furnished to a very high standard and cannot be faulted in any way. We have been using holiday cottages now for almost 15 years and this accommodation ranks extremely highly. The unique selling point is the veranda. Looking out to the fields of cattle and the small wood makes this a stunning feature. We enjoyed sitting outside in the almost total silence and feeling the light breeze in the sunshine. Situated in lovely countryside not too far from Matlock Bath, I would thoroughly recommend this property. Also, Val the friendly owner left out some very nice edibles on arrival that were a nice touch. In summary, it has to be 10/10.

The Cottage at Elton was very comfortable with a cosy very efficient wood burner in the lounge,a modern bathroom, well equipped modern kitchen and enclosed garden, ideal for our dog. The TV was very modern,(p'haps to modern for luddites like us!!) The cottage was near to an excellenr community shop in the next village,Winster,Winster also has an excellent pub,The Miners Standard which was very welcoming to dogs and the food was very varied and interesting. The cottage was in easy walking distance of walks like Stanton Moor or the long distance footpath near Robin Hoods Stride, nearby; also local attractiond like Matlock and Cromford are easily accessible from the cottage

This is an outstanding little treasure, we will go back (I NEVER go back anywhere, but will make an exception this time). Great views over the fields from the balcony, and Valerie's attention to detail is awesome. You won't find anything missing that you could possibly need. She's is one of the best hosts we've stayed with, an absolute pleasure. Local walks are great and there is easy access to the Peak District attractions. Access is down a narrow bumpy track - low suspension cars take care. The staircase to the bedroom mezzanine is steep and narrow - fine for us, but older and less agile visitors might struggle.
