Sykes need to keep their website Updated!
A member of our family has health issues, and it stated there was level entrance to property â¦..on arrival we found that there wasnât-and where that entrance USED to be there was a well established hedge! Also one of the reasons we chose the property stated there was a âPS2â + DVD player- but as I had looked through reviews an old one had said there was no PS2â¦. I decided to ring the owner, who was very pleasant and helpful and confirmed that since updating the tv it had been taken away as so the DVD⦠so we were prepared to takeâsomethingâ else to occupy. On a wet damp afternoon it was delightful to enter the Warm and Very CLEAN property plus albeit we were only there a couple of days a lovely welcome packâ¦.sadly we were due to move onto another Sykes property in Aberdaron of which was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE! O how we wished we had stayed in the FIRST property â¦.it is now looking very doubtful after using Sykes for many years we shall use them in the futureâ¦..after receiving negative feedback on the very dreadful dirty 2nd house we went to we are still awaiting any correspondence after THREE days. Totally unacceptable

As we opened the door Wow!
This felt like a much loved home not a holiday let. A state of the art kitchen, it all looked brand new. Fully equipped, Eirian has thought of everything. Three lovely comfy sofas in the sitting room and books describing the surrounding area on the coffee table. From every room there are stunning views of the mountains surrounding Maes Meillion. The three bedrooms are lovely, comfortable beds, we slept well, excellent showers too. Outside, comfortable garden furniture and a covered eating area with a BBQ. So peaceful with just the sound of birdsong, the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. We loved the raised flower beds, Eirian is a very talented gardener with an eye for colour. The front borders particularly, an array of beautiful plants set against the backdrop of the mountains behind is stunning. Last but not least, Eirian herself, warm and welcoming and so helpful, there was a loaf of Bara Brith and Welsh butter waiting for us, a lovely touch. Maes Meillion deserves more than five stars, we certainly plan to visit this beautiful immaculate house again.

We had a wonderful stay at Y Bwthyn.
The property has been cleverly renovated and has almost all it needs for a very comfortable stay. The garden is perfect and made our stay! We enjoyed lovely evenings sat outside with our dogs, and everything has been thought of in terms of outdoor comfort. In the cottage, there are a few things that would be helpful (e.g a hand towel upstairs and downstairs, a place to hang coats) but more importantly, I feel the owners and Sykes need to provide more information to potential visitors on the spiral staircase in the property. Living in a home with a spiral staircase, we thought it would be fine but it is a very narrow, steep spiral staircase which takes time and care to navigate. Not necessarily an issue, but it needs to be made clear so that future visitors can decide for themselves if it will pose them an issue. The area is gorgeous and as locals ourselves, weâd recommend the Mawddach trail, the Torrent Walk Hotel in Dolgellau and the George for drinks and food!

One of the nicest holiday properties we have stayed in, very spacious, comfortable and well equipped, had everything we could possibly need.
And the view from the front terrace is amazing! The owner had left some wonderful treats for us on our day of arrival which was a lovely surprise. The property is in a great location with beaches, lakes and mountains all within half an hour's drive. We didn't do as much walking or sightseeing as we had planned because of the heatwave, but found plenty of places to swim. Harlech beach is lovely and there's a great spot for swimming and picnicing at Llangower on Bala Lake - rocks and stones underfoot so take swim shoes. Would highly recommend the wooded walk to Dolgoch falls, and climbing Cader Idris is a must if you're feeling energetic - we took the Minffordd path which was steep in places but well marked and very beautiful, and swimming in Llyn Cau was very special. For eating out, would recommend the Cross Foxes inn 5 minutes drive out of Dolgellau, great food and very helpful, friendly staff.

This is a fantastic property for large groups with a variety of comfortable rooms and many ensuite rooms.
Perfect for families as well as corporate functions. Its located in the heart of a beautiful village, close to Barmouth beach, some local amenities and takeaways and cafes, but not close to any large supermarkets, however you can order food shopping. Parking is located just a few minutes walk away with a few spaces outside to unload. The property was clean and the photos do not do it justice. Kitchen is extremely well equipped, there is a drinks chiller in the sitting room as well as a poker table, football table, pool table and shuffleboard. The dining room comfortably seats all guests and there were highchairs and cots available. Bed Linen and hand, bath and teatowels are provided. Fantastic property, easy to contact the owner and the housekeeper who is available and local if you need them. I would definitely recommend.
