What our customers say about their holidays

    • Rachel - Verified booking

Kylemore is a lovely old house in an interesting town.

The bathrooms are lovely and were very clean, and the kitchen is modern with adequate equipment, the skylights making it a nice space to eat and spend time in. Garden was a pretty place to sit in sun and have a drink. The bedrooms were all lovely, kids reported beds upstairs were comfy, especially the singles. We really loved the garden bedroom, huge, lovely bathroom, doors to garden and very comfortable bed. Not to mention the beautiful, blackout curtains that made for an amazing night's sleep. A few negatives though, we rent a cottage for it to be a home from home, this requires comfortable furniture to be so. The lounge has an ok sofa, but the rest of the chairs are very uncomfortable, and the old armchair with stuffing coming out was unappealing. Pillows could be a lot better. Games room was not really a games room, just a few odd chairs and a chest with a few games in, could be made much more useful. Bathrooms and kitchen were nicely clean, but rest of house was just ok, could be cleaned better. Plastic chopping boards and utensils would be better so they can go through dishwasher and be properly clean. Wood is lovely, but never know if it's scrubbed well. The electric shower in double bedroom could not be used as it was either boiling or freezing. A welcome pack with milk and a few biscuits or something would have been much appreciated, especially as you cannot get in until 4pm. Although this sounds like a lot of negatives, we would recommend, the house has a nice atmosphere, we slept well, enjoyed time in the kitchen and had an all round fantastic holiday.

Downstairs was excellent, with a nice large kitchen/diner with doors to a west facing courtyard, so a nice sunny aspect if the weather is good.

The lounge was also a good size with a comfortable sofa and chair. WiFi was excellent and it was easy to stream programs on the smart TV or on our own devices. Upstairs, the main shower room was large and very stylish, with a superb large shower. However we found the bedrooms rather disappointing - the main bedroom was in the eaves, with only two very small windows, so we felt that the room was rather claustrophobic. The en suite bathroom was also very small and the bath was short and difficult to get into and out of. The second bedroom was brighter but there was very little space around the beds. Storage in the bedrooms consisted of a chest of drawers but no wardrobe, just a few hooks on the wall. The location is excellent - Mark is a great village with two pubs, a post office/general store and a bakery. It is also a great centre for a holiday, with lots of places to visit in all directions. Wedmore is only a couple of miles to the east, and Wells about 10 miles away, both are worth a visit. You are also on the Somerset Levels, so can see for miles around and it is great areas for bird watching - we saw lots of starlings on our trip and the murmurations in the area are famous. The coast is only 15 minutes away and Bath and Bristol are in easy reach.

My partner and I had a really nice time, it's in such a lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet. . You're surrounded by animals and a lovely Pony that's so friendly! We really enjoyed the hot tub The fire pit was lovely, just what we needed on our final night watching the stars. Its a short 15 minute drive to shops like Aldi and Sainsbury's and morrisons, however 8 minutes the other way takes you to a lovely village called cheddar. Danni recommend a Chinese too us which was just amazing. Quality was great. We didn't get to meet the owners due to them being away at the same time however their daughter who was there managing sorted out everything and was a great host. If you're tall, just watch out for the tv placed on the inside of the pod as its easy to catch your head on! The only negative was there was no actual power in the shower. The water just trickled out with no pressure so we really struggled to shower and there was no hot water. So showering with cold water was a bit harsh in the cold weather but other than that it was great! Thanks for having us♡

      We had a fantastic time.

The Barn was lovely and extremely comfy. We had everything we needed plus the benefit of lovely surroundings. The couple that owned the barn were only next door, and were really friendly and attentive to our needs. The Barn had a fantastic homely feel, with a cozy snug living room, gorgeous kitchen that brought the outside in, and really comfy beds that I would like to have at home (but I have still never quite managed to achieve that lovely hotel feel). The area was great, really easy to get to beautiful places like Cheddar, Wells, and Glastonbury, as well as the coast. The village had great local pubs within walking distance (10 mins at a very lazy stroll), but there were also other places to eat in beautiful surroundings and great food within a 15 minute drive. We would definitely recommend Magnolia Barn as a lovely place to stay and hope to visit again. Thank you from Rachael, Andy and Caitlin .

      A lovely renovated barn.

Small gravelled garden with double gates which made it very secure for our two westies. Good kitchen downstairs that is very well equipped with everything you should need, even had sharp knives which I find is a rarity. Smart tv so Netflix’s etc once you’ve logged in. Our only fault and for us it was a major one was the BED! The mattress to say the least was a very basic coil sprung one when it was bought and offered no support at all. So much in fact that we had to buy 2 cheap duvets which we put on top which helped a little but still caused us broken sleep and back ache, so much so that we left a day early. It was a real shame as everything else is a really good quality but for us a good bed is vital. We mentioned this to the owners and really hope they address this with a decent supportive mattress. Once this is done it will be 5 stars like it deserves
