Pebble Cottage deserves a 4 star rating great cottage, nicely presented and upstairs a 5 star rating however all this is let down by others, “doggy people” who have no consideration for the well being of the next persons staying in this wonderful holiday cottage. The stench of dogs when entering the downstairs lounge/dining/kitchen areas was ….. Had to open the garden doors as loads of flies in the room also trying to alleviate the problem with the smell only to have more flies fly back in, all being attracted to the outside tiled areas smelling of dog urine and a wheelie bin stinking of dog excrement. Moved the bin up by the seating area, making this a no go area for any seating or al fresco dining during our stay. Bought bottles of room scent for downstairs nauseating but better than the other. I expect the comeback will be, “what do expect from a dog friendly holiday let, certainly not this and why would you, What I do expect, as other guests renting, deserve to be able to relax and unwind all in a holiday mode leaving with a positive attitude and sharing their experience with others and obviously a plus for Dunster’s tourism.

Easy walk to all the restaurants and pubs in Dunster. The National Trust Tea Shop at the Mill was a few minutes walk away, as was Dunster Castle. The Stag's Head Pub was great, with excellent food and was very welcoming for us and our small dog. No trouble with parking, the car park was free between 6pm and 9am. We parked on the other side of the ford at the bottom of the lane which was free during the day. It was easy to cross, as the water levels were shallow, but obviously this depends on the time of the year (keep to the left!) The cottage was spacious, with a well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and good shower. Inside the cottage was very clean, but the garden is a little neglected. Barbecue was rusty and not clean. Half a toilet roll that was provided for a whole week was insufficient for 2 let alone if there were 4 staying. No kitchen sponge/cloth to wipe surfaces so recommend guests bring these. We were pleased that the garden was secure for our dog, and the bifold doors in the kitchen were useful on hot days. Overall a lovely stay in a nice location with walks on your doorstep.

We had a wonderful holiday at Pebble Cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped and the garden was absolutely beautiful. The location was fantastic - a stone's throw from Gallox Bridge and the National Trust Tearooms at Dunster Castle and a short stroll to the High Street and the Tourist Information Centre. Lovely walks straight from the door. We recommend walking up to Bat's Castle - beautiful views and a real sense of 'getting away from it all'. We found that the lack of parking at the property wasn't an issue. Sometimes we were able to park in the street opposite Pebble Cottage and if we weren't able to do that, we used the car park which was only a minute or two away on foot; there was no charge between 6pm and 9am. It appears that charges only apply in the summer. We highly recommend this cottage and will be visiting again.

A beautiful and certainly well equipped cottage, you really only need to bring the basics as the owners have thought of everything.. even down to picnic bits and bobs, dog towels to dry our dog after a cooling dip in the ford … and any kitchen necessity we needed, it was there and more. My mum couldn’t resist doing a bit of pruning in the pretty garden, (pruners available in garden cupboard!). Although there is no allocated parking we were lucky and found free on road parking but the car park at the end of the lane was reasonable. My mum and I (plus doggo) were after a chilled few days and we weren’t disappointed despite the blistering heat that limited big outings we enjoyed our time at Pebble Cottage … thanks to Nikki for good communication throughout.
