What our customers say about their holidays

    • Stephen - Verified booking

We are a family of 6 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs and the venue was just perfect for us!

It has all the modern amenities whilst retaining original features of the farmhouse. Very beautiful, spacious and well equipped kitchen/dining area so we could cook each night with the option of aga or cooker and a good-sized utility with 2nd fridge/freezer so we could stock up. Lovely beaches within 30 minutes so the dogs could run and for us to do some fossil hunting which proved successful!. Even though the weather was awful for our stay, it made it all the better to come back to a cosy living room with the log fire burning whilst we watched a film! The local shop was well stocked and just a 2 minute walk from the farmhouse so we could get eggs and sausages for breakfast plus there was a Lidl and big Tesco 10 minute's drive away. Unfortunately, the pub closed early most days so we did not get a chance to visit. The night before we returned home, we ordered from Dominos Pizza which is only couple miles away and the food arrived very quickly and very hot. The owners are next door and were very friendly, extremely accommodating and helpful pre visit and during and we found their digital guidebook and inhouse guides provided us with all the information we needed. We highly recommend and plan to return in the future.

I choose Church Farmhouse, after a year’s delay, to spend a special birthday with my family.

From the moment we arrived , we knew the choice was a good one. The family kitchen was warm and welcoming, well stocked with utensils and a perfect window seat my granddaughter took residence in. The bedrooms were roomy, full of character with lovely uneven floors. The snug priced very popular with the grandchildren who could play games and watch TV away from the adults! An amazing real fireplace, which we lit whilst playing games in the evening, took centre stage in the spacious lounge. Surrounded by wonderful countryside, Winsham is close to the sea, whilst only being 3 miles from a main supermarket. Trevor and Deborah, the owners, live next door and were friendly and readily available should you need them. Sadly, we were unable to complete our weeks stay as the virus struck our family and , with heavy hearts, we returned home. But the memories made with my family we’re very special. Hopefully we can return to this special cottage, to complete our holiday!

We had a fantastic stay at Church Farmhouse.

The cottage is warm, comfortable, quirky, beautifully maintained throughout and absolutely sparkly clean. It really exceeded my expectations. Comfy beds, a well-stocked kitchen / pantry, lovely views - I could go on. Owners Trevor and Deborah went out of their way to make us feel welcome, with personal touches like a homemade cake, card and flowers to greet us on arrival, but they were never intrusive and the cottage feels totally private while you're inside - the balance was perfect. We also had some specific requests before we arrived (we were holding a family get together with various different households arriving on different days / at different times) and Deborah couldn't have been more accommodating. Thanks so much for a terrific stay.

A lovely farmhouse, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful break & more besides.

It's beautifully furnished to respect it's age and history and full of home comforts. Perfect for a break with friends. The outdoor space is a real sun-trap & perfect for enjoying an evening drink listening to the peace & birdsong. Deb & Trevor, our wonderful hosts next door, were so friendly & welcoming without being intrusive. Loads of walks from the doorstep or a stroll around the village - gorgeous church & great community shop. Loads to do in the area. Forde Abbey is very close & stunning! The Dorset coast is only 20 mins drive. We came away feeling totally relaxed & wishing we had stayed a week & not just a weekend! Can't recommend enough & we will be back. Thank you for such a lovely break.

This is the PERFECT place for a cosy cottage trip.

I truly couldn't recommend it enough. The location is brilliant, tucked away from everything and everyone with a beautiful walk route right across the road. The house itself is absolutely stunning, theres a lovely big dining table in the kitchen and the living room is cosy yet spacious with a fire to keep you warm. The bedrooms are all adorable with incredibly comfy beds and plenty of extra blankets if needed. Deborah is so lovely and even let us go see the ducks in her garden. There were plenty of snacks and eggs from their chickens put out for us, including an extremely delicious cake! (Thank you so much guys) The best place to spend my birthday, can't wait to go back again.
