What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jeffrey - Verified booking

The property itself offered all we hoped for in terms of accommodation and location, which was in a lovely setting close to the coast.

Unfortunately however things didn’t get off to a good start when we arrived at the cabin to find the cleaner still busily sorting out the place from the previous occupants. He had apparently been informed he had till 4 pm to complete his task, when in fact our contract with Sykes stated we would have full access to the property from 3 pm! Having waited some 15-20 minutes for him to finish we then entered the cabin and were immediately confronted by the overwhelming odour of damp dog! Closer inspection also showed remnants of what appeared to be evidence of dog biscuit/chews scattered about the carpeted area of the lounge. Coupled with this the glass doors leading out to the decking were visibly smeared with unsightly dog slaver and paw marks. After opening all the doors and windows as wide as possible I then found the vacuum cleaner in one of the cupboards. Before switching it on however I was shocked to find it completely choked with dirt and dog hairs which rendered it useless in picking up anything at all! (Photos of this were sent to Sykes as proof) After spending several minutes emptying and cleaning it I then set about hoovering all the carpeted areas throughout the cabin, which, to my amazement, half filled the hoover back up again. Later in the afternoon following a visit to nearby New Quay in stopped to pick up some carpet deodoriser and air freshener from a local store. On our return to the cabin I then liberally sprinkled the deodoriser over the entire carpet and once again set to hoovering throughout. This process had to be repeated several times during our stay as the smell of dogs kept returning! This unpleasant situation plus the absence of any bin bags which were promised AND missing cushions from the decking furniture, which had obviously been removed prior to our arrival and were nowhere to be found, all added up to a disappointing experience on a trip we had very much been looking forward to! I understand that people are encouraged to bring their pets with them to properties of this nature, which I have no problem with at all! What I would expect however is for property owners to conduct a thorough and extensive clean after each visit, to ensure future occupants don’t have to endure a similar experience to ours!

Lovely, clean and well maintained property.

Dog friendly but don’t let that put you off, it was spotless. An upside down house with 2 en-suite bedrooms on opposite sides of the hallway. One double, one twin. I would have preferred the double to be in the other room which had the nicer walk in shower and was lighter and brighter, but both rooms were good so not a problem and I enjoyed the double ended bath for a good soak. The living area upstairs is spacious with kitchen at one end and sun room with small balcony at the other. The sun room is particularly comfy and loved the filled bird feeder which meant I saw my first ever woodpecker! Your own private hot tub which is fully cleaned between bookings made for good relaxation after a day of coastal hills! Well equipped kitchen; electric hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with good sized ice box. Washing machine, laundry basket and airer. Hairdryer and towels provided. Dishwasher tablets, hand soap, kitchen cleaning stuff provided. Salt, pepper and cling film/sarnie bags provided so no need to bring. Could do with more ‘proper’ mugs for a good sized cuppa. Tips for a good stay: restaurants get booked up so worth advance booking. Moody cow looked nice for sun lunch. The Pepper pot was pleasant for lunch or dinner. The Cost Cutter local shop in New Quay had a surprisingly good selection inc vegetarian. Big supermarkets are a bit further afield so get an advance Tesco delivery or shop on the way. Note that sat nav only gets you so far, don’t forget to drop a pin on the map once arrived so you can find your way back! It’s not hard once you know but confusing the first few times. We enjoyed walking from llangranog and tresaith to pen bryn (which had the better cafe). All in all, a lovely relaxing stay. Thank you.

What a super property in a truly wonderful and tranquil rural location yet within a short drive of excellent local pub and convenience store.

Pond cottage, one of two lovely detached holiday cottages in a small complex of three homes in all including the owners' former farm house, is a genuine delight. The property is unusual perhaps with it's inverted accommodation but exceptionally spacious throughout, interesting in layout and ideal in particular for two couples with it's two large double bedrooms each having extremely generous bathroom or shower room but separated by a large entrance hall with useful fully equipped utility cupboard under the stairs. A single step down at the end of the large lounge/diner leads into an additional seating area with two comfortable chairs from which visitors can admire a stunning variety of birds on the nut feeder and balcony immediately outside. The excellent Kitchen/Breakfast Room completes the accommodation and is not only extremely well fitted and equipped but again unusually generous in size. The covered hot tub just outside the back door was more than a bonus, it was a delight in itself with direct outlook over the grounds which themselves afford a gorgeous setting with plenty of opportunity for dog walking. Last but not least, a special mention must be made of the owners Mark and Philippa who are most helpful, warm and welcoming and made us feel quite at home. Casper and Bailey, the owners' very friendly Spaniels, contributed to that welcome too !

Lovely house which was exceptionally clean.

Ideal location in Cardigan - less than a minute to walk to the nearest cafes and shops. There is street parking outside which is handy for arrival and departure but the swimming pool car park was very useful as you can buy a weekly pass (£14.60 not £10.50 as listed in the description but still a bargain!) and there were always plenty of spaces. The swimming pool has closed down. Plenty of storage in the kitchen. Lots of things supplied by the owner should you need to borrow anything you've forgotten eg beach towels, picnic blanket, reading glasses. Lounge and dining area comfy but possibly a little small for our family of 5 (3 adults and 2 older teenagers). Sofa and armchair extremely comfy but the last one there missed out and had to sit on the bench seat (on the photos it looks like a sofa but it isn't) Bathroom on first floor a good size but no lock on the door. Bedrooms on this level were cosy but all had good storage and were very comfortable. Large bedroom on the top floor also comfortable. Lots of clean, attractive decor in all rooms which made the property even more homely and attractive.

We had a wonderful, quiet and relaxing time at Murmur y Ceri. The property is one of the cleanest we have stayed in and is very well equipped. We really do like the open plan living space. The welcome pack was really appreciated too. The owners Alan & Meirion are really friendly and helpful. We were lucky in that the field was devoid of livestock for our 3 week stay and our two German Shepherds really appreciated the space and the River Ceri. Every day the Red Kites and Buzzards put on a show for us plus the odd Heron and Fox. The weather was kind and we spent a lot of time walking various sections of the Wales Coastal Path. We especially enjoyed watching the dolphins from the Point at Ynys Lochtyn National Trust land just north of Llangrannog and seals just south of Mwnt Bay. The fish and chips at The Dolphin on the front at Fishguard were excellent. We had a thoroughly good holiday and would gladly return again in the future. Mark, Mandy, Becca & Matthew. Not forgetting the GSD’s Milo & Murphy.
