"On first sight the cottage is very charming and comfortable. It's bright, spacious and am sure would comfortable accommodate four adults and two children. We were only two so were spoilt. A few negatives make this not a five star. As previous reviewers have said, the two doubles are very hard and the one downstairs like a board. We ended up using the duvets as padding and covering with the light patterned quilt. The ventilation in the bathroom is not adequate, the ceiling is covered in black mould and the radiator is rusting. After just one shower the walls and door are streaming. We took to leaving the light and extractor on for a while after finishing in the bathroom and leaving the door open to air the room. The kitchen is large with ample seating, but again a few things need attention, the freezer was unusable as it was choked up with ice the drawers would not open, and the door would not close properly further adding to the ice problem. Quite a few of the down lighters did not work, nor did the standard lamp in the sitting room. Think there perhaps needs to be a check list to go through at change over. We arrived around 3.30 and the cleaner was still there, she allowed us to bring our bags in whilst she finished up but think perhaps that led to a bit of a rush job? One last thing, we all live in era of technology and expect to be able to stay in contact with family and work whilst away. Wi-Fi would be an excellent addition to the cottage as there is no telephone signal in the area. Ended up feeling a bit cut off, maybe the point of a holiday, but still felt a bit anxious that I could not be contacted as I have an elderly mother. I'm sure the costs could be recovered by adding £5 to the rental. All in all these are only minor niggles and did not mar a lovely stay. I would recommend this place but would also recommend the owners do a bit of maintenance."

"A superb location being so very close to the beach (it really is just a 5 min walk) and it is a fantastic beach to keep kids entertained as is sandy, but also rock pools and good pebbly area too - plus is very quiet even on a hot summers day as it’s so remote up there! Hours of entertainment there alone. (Bonus is the golf house on the beach, as has toilets and Sells drinks and food too). Great places to visit nearby - strathisla distillery in Keith was amazing for grown ups, Baxter’s in focahabers, Boyndie visitor centre (lovely food there - best Cullen Skink we had), Fyvie Castle (especially wonderful day there), Cullen Auld Kirk and a lovely walk up to the watchtower ruin overlooking Cullen bay. Fantastic ice cream shop in Cullen, best fish and chips were Portknockie. The house itself works well for so many people (6 adults and 6 children). Wish there were 3 toilets as I had thought (3rd bathroom is shower room only, no toilet on 2nd floor) but just 2 was an issue at times. House clean and The housekeeper and her mum and the owner were very helpful plus nice welcome pack on arrival. Shame the garden is inaccessible, as would have been good for the kids. A great week had by all though as Cullen is just so very lovely and we had great weather. Would love to stay again."

"A group of 7 of us (3 adults and 4 children under 10) all stayed at Seaspray during February half term. Actually this was our second visit but the cottage wasn't yet on TripAdvisor to write a review. All I can say is that the cottage is perfect. It is beautifully decorated, contemporary but with a very coastal cottage feel. Spotlessly clean, warm, spacious and well kitted out with everything you could possible need. It also has a wonderful sea view and is located right across the road from the sea. Portknockie is a peaceful village with a lovely harbour and lots of good walks, caves and beaches to explore. There is also a local Spar that is open til 8pm most nights or the Cullen Co-Op is just a couple of minutes drive away. I have to mention the beds! - all of the beds were comfortable ,the bedlinen was soft and clean and it was an absolutely joy to get into bed at the end of the day. Even though the weather was lovely, it was still cold so we spent a lot of time indoors enjoying this cosy cottage with the wood burning fire roaring! We will definitely be back again shortly. Simply perfect and we all have a fantastic time.."

"This is an outstanding cottage with wonderful charm and character, a real home from home. It is set in a picturesque location, in a coastal fishing village, on the Moray firth. The cottage is spacious, full of character and wonderfully decorated. It has everything you could possibly need! Clean, cosy and with some lovely personal touches, including a book containing information about the history of the cottage - fascinating - an old fisherman's cottage transformed into a contemporary coastal holiday home. The cottage has beautiful views out to sea. Portknockie harbour is quaint and peaceful, and Bow Fiddle Rock is just a few minutes walk from the house. This offered us incredible views and wonderful photo opportunities. We'd recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise behind Bow Fiddle - absolutely stunning! The Moray Coast Trail is a stones throw away and runs for 50 miles along the coast; perfect for cycling, running or walking along. We loved seeing seals from Portessie Bay, Ospreys from the top of the Bin of Cullen and we're looking forward to coming back to see the dolphins! We thoroughly recommend a holiday here!"

"Great family holiday house which offers plenty of flexible space for families of all ages. Warm, cosy and well equipped, we had everything we needed and more! Cullen is a lovely, friendly fishing village with a range of unusual shops, cafes and is a super base to explore the Moray coast. It has a small well-stocked supermarket, a brilliant ice cream shop and a great fish and chip shop. Rockpool Cafe is worth a visit as it offers the local delicacy Cullen Skink, as well as a range of super cakes. The location is great for walks and exploring the many fishing villages along the coast. We would especially recommend walking across the viaduct in Cullen to Port Knockie and back along the coastal path, down Jennie’s steps, passed Jennie’s Well and back along the beautiful sandy Cullen Beach - 5 miles with beautiful views! We will return!"
