"The lodge was in an excellent location, but was not ‘luxury’ as described. It lacked many basic essentials eg kitchen utensils, bath mat in shower room, laundry basket, placemats and the cleaning materials were sparse (take your own!). There was so little crockery for a family of five that we had to run the dishwasher half full or we’d run out - not very eco friendly. Only one towel was supplied for each person. The lodge afforded beautiful views through dirty windows and the dishwasher was not emptied on our arrival. The shower did not drain properly and overflowed. For an eco lodge, there was no provision for composting, not all bulbs were energy saving, there was an oil filled radiator in the lounge (flue installed for wood burner but no burner!) and the whirlpool bath took lots of water and energy to use (plus the plug was broken so water level dropped and bathroom got sprayed as a result!). The car parking was not directly outside, and although this did not bother us, the nearest spaces to the lodge seemed to be occupied by staff at the Mill, not reserved for guests. On returning to the lodges in the dark, there was no external lighting on the path to the lodges. It was the first cottage we have been to that didn’t leave a welcome pack of tea, milk etc, but you were entitled to free tea and cake at the Mill cafe each day. We used this once, but as we were out every day 10-5 when the cafe was open we would have preferred these items in the lodge. The biggest problem was WiFi. This was only available in the cafe despite there being a hard wired BT Hub in the double bedroom. The use of the Mill grounds was a bonus, but we were informed that we were only entitled to one free game of adventure golf during the week, and we were not permitted to take out a boat out of hours; even at our own risk. The pedalos were also all broken which disappointed our children. Really we feel that although the lodge was good, it was not excellent, and lacked the attention to detail that we have become accustomed to at other holiday properties."

"Lovely light airy open plan eco house.Practical things which could be acted on to make it even better - 1 Toilets didn't flush properly. Water constantly trickling through so took hours to refill after use. Awkward when whole party trying to leave together. Please sort the toilets out!2 Recycling instructions - there were none, which for an eco pod which makes much of its green credentials is poor. There was one green wheely bin - no information about whether this was for glass and cans, or paper and cardboard, or all together, and whether waste should be presented separated out or commingled. No food waste bin at all. Where does the residual waste go? When are collections? No excuse for an eco pod not providing recycling instructions.3 Provide better quality loo roll. The starter set of one roll per bathroom provided was one ply which is cheap, and the eco pods are not. If it's recycled then say so. If not then splash out on the sort of quality people usually buy at home. 4 The children were uncomfortable about sitting on the balcony because of the peacock poo. Could this be cleaned up more often? The boats - the pedals don't work well on the pedalled, put us off this year."

"The location was good, 5 minutes walk from the cliffs. Unfortunately, the cottage was disappointing. The furniture was very old and uncomfortable. The oven took a long time to cook anything, we suggest the microwave be tested for safety and the fridge barely kept things cool. The mattress on the bed and the sofa need replacing and the shower was pitiful. The internet was intermittent and unreliable and although there was Sky, the choice of channels was very disappointing.Thankfully we did not have to put in any money for electricity. (We have never had to pay for electricity before and it would become expensive in colder weather.)The bathroom needed a deep clean and frankly, replacing. It was a long walk to the local amenities but the local shop was well stocked and the food and staff at the Three Bishops pub lovely. Finally, it was extremely irritating to have to drive all the way back through the village to get to the main road, which we could see from our window!"

"We feel that having stayed at other cottage Bagels set was expensive. The kitchen area was so small that you could not stand plates up to drain no work tops. There was a very large 3 seater sofa bed that was very uncomfortable to sit on and took up so much room. The TV had only 4 channels and kept losing signal. The place is not dog friendly as you could not let dog out in garden as there were no fencing and no grass the garden furniture you could not sit on. When leaving the cottage in car I had to get out cross the road and wave when it was safe to drive out. When sitting at the bench to eat you felt like you were back at school looking at a blank wall. I would use welcome email cottages again but would want more information about the place as it was a bad experience for us and our dog who was not allowed on chairs on bed but there was no place he could go."

"This is such a gorgeous little cottage, it's cosy rather than pokey, especially with the wood burner on. It's very well equipped, and beautifully decorated through-out. It is on the main road through the village, but we didn't find the noise from the road intrusive. The owners were friendly and helpful, and left us a lovely welcome pack. The location was great for exploring the island. The only thing I could say that would be a con would be that the shower is quite short, for a person taller than 5'7" it's hard to get in comfortably. We were only there a few days, so it didn't grate for us, but tall people who don't like baths might find it annoying for a longer stay. Overall it is one of the nicest self-catering cottages I have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend it."
