"A good base for central Buxton, in a quiet area close to amenities. The overall experience was good but a few little things we found would have made it excellent. There was no welcome from the host. We telephoned a couple of days before as requested and arrived on the day around 2.30. We rang the main house doorbell but got no reply. We tried the cottage door which was unlocked and found two sets of keys on the dining room table with a bottle of wine and some crisps. Throughout our stay we did not meet the host and also upon the day of departure we did not see our host. I found that a bit disapointing. The bedroom blinds are far too light and thin, light streams in from 4.30am so disturbed sleep from then on. We could not find any kitchen scissors which at times did make life hard, also no torch or first aid kit which are listed in the inventory and also check sheet folder on the desk in the lounge. We also left out on the kitchen drainer the cracked mug so as to point it out to the cleaner. A waste paper basket in the bedroom would be nice as all we had was the bathroom bin and kitchen bin. The final thing is the floorboards directly outside the bathroom door. This seems to have had some work done to it but screws sticking up should be addressed or a rug put over them. As I said these are all little things that once addressed will make people give a perfect score."

"Upon arrival, no one met us, and we were left in a dilemma..not knowing what to do next. Tried contacting owner but to no avail as there wasn't any phone coverage. My wife and I sat in the car, contemplating our next move, in the cold and rain. Drove to superstore, miles away, hoping to get him there. There was full coverage then but no one answered phone nor reply to our text msg. We drove back to the Olde Chapel..through very narrow country roads, from both sides. After much manoeuvering, I finally managed to park my car, facing the road, for easy access out. I had to walk over to neighbour's to make enquiries. The kind elderly lady walked down with me to inform me where the key to the place was hidden. We finally got in! Feeling very cold, we tried the radiators. Hadn't got a clue as there was no house book to give information. We later discovered they were all on timer. Saw an alarm system but no instructions as to how to use it. We couldn't sleep peacefully as we felt insecure for there's only the old original front door for security. Beds were very hard to sleep on( We noticed that was mentioned over and over in the Visitors' Book). So, in the end, there was not a whiff of the owner."

"An absolute stunning location. Central to surrounding areas; Bakewell, Chatsworth, Matlock and the like. The apartment was homely. Almost everything was there to make our stay a pleasurable one, and the romance of sleeping in a four-poster bed was in deed a bonus, as was the bottle of fizz and chocolates. The decor is very dated though, with a few scuffs and chips around the place, and looked like something Great Aunt Emily would be proud of. The apartment would benefit greatly with the addition of WiFi. But most of the surrounding pubs and hotel bars had free WiFi, so a nice evening walk to the pub wasn’t all bad.The allocated parking space is a definite God-send, but, be warned, it is very tight to reverse in to. It was a shame that on Wednesday morning the scaffolding unexpectedly arrived to spoil the beautiful views from the living-room window and obscured our “people watching” experience.Over all, we had a very nice, relaxing break at the Savoy. The big downers were the lack of WiFi and the appearance of the scaffolding. Both of which we feel could’ve been mentioned on the phone by the owners before hand."

"Perfect location as a work base for the week with working wifi. No phone signal however, but that wasn't an issue for us.Clean and tidy and had everything we needed, although the equipment is limited (no washing machine, also no hair dryer or iron, although there's an ironing board). The fridge could do with shelves replacing and maybe an ice cube tray. However there is plenty of space in cupboards to put our groceries during our stay, as there wasn't the clutter some holiday cottages can have.Easy access to Stoke for business, and to other locations for leisure, walks etc in afternoons/evenings. We travelled as a working couple, however it would benefit from more crockery and maybe some books, games etc for visiting families and children. Also larger towels please!Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely use it again when working in the area."

"Brilliant 3 bedroom cottage, roomy and comfortable. Spotlessly clean, really well equipped, comfortable beds, quiet and private location....slept like a log !!. I rented the cottage whilst working in the area for 3 weeks and couldn't have picked a better place. Had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Loads of outside space with plenty of private parking. The standard of fittings and equipment is way above the normal holiday cottage, and I have rented many over the years. Good pub providing excellent meals just over the road, two good supermarkets within ten minutes drive but the cottage itself in a quiet scenic spot. A steam train chugs past the back garden at weekends, possibly more often during the summer ?. I honestly could not fault the house at all, fantastic value for money, I will be back, hopefully with the family next time."
