"Very comfortable, clean and cosy house with lots of very pleasingly designed rooms, appropriate to the Scottish location and the period of the house. We enjoyed the large garden with its abundance of visiting birds and found goldeneye on the river nearby. We were mainly in this location for the nearby walking (Munros) and because the weather was generally glorious this year, had a truly fantastic week over the Easter holiday. Newtonmore is a lovely little town with useful shops for groceries and the wildcat trail even inspired my world weary 20something child, despite her "cool" self proclaiming she was not interested. The house was excellently equipped with good quality items. The owner has taken the trouble to assure me since we left that the very few minor items that we found lacking, would have been dealt with on the spot if I had reported them to the caretaker at the time. This demonstrates the concern she has for the holidaymaker's experience and I have upgraded my review to account for this."

"Lovely property, beds very comfortable, lovely and warm, excellent kitchen dining area suitable for family dining. We enjoyed the wood burning stove. We were a little disappointed that some of the more luxury features were not available, Sky TV advertised but not present, jacuzzi bath was not operational at all throughout our stay, apparently it was not operational for the previous occupants either- still awaiting the elusive plumber to repair!! The downstairs area of the house had a definite aroma of dog, despite being lovely and clean to the eye, the smell was exacerbated on returning to the house after daytrips out when the house had been locked up. I felt it did not offer good value for money as the luxury features that allowed it to command a premium price were not available during our stay."

"We booked our one week stay at S22746 six months before we were due to stay. We confirmed our arrival time with the Housekeeper (as per our instuctions the day before). On arrival we were horrified to find another family were moving in!. We contacted our booking agent Cottages.com (who were fabulous!) and who confirmed that we had booked correctly with them, however the other family had booked directly with the Owner and she refused us access. We were left in a hire car 800 miles from home with two children in the car on a Friday night with nowhere to stay. Fortunately the booking agent were amazing and found us temporary accommodation and then an alternative booking for the remainder of our holiday. My advice to anyone booking with S22746 is to not!!!"

"We felt that S22529 was like finding treasure... particularly after such a long journey! It was both unique and met our every need - it looked brand new. When we felt like relaxing, all we had to do was sit and look out of the large windows at the panorama and we occasionally caught glimpses of the local deer and birds. We were cosy and warm when we watched the odd storm or two blow across. When venturing out we took in breathtaking views of the Cuillins, plenty of photos and made the most of the autumn colours and Skye weather! This was an amazing holiday made so by the magic of Skye and the gem of this unique and beautiful home. We hope to return next year. Oct 2008."

"We had a very pleasant stay. It was our kind of house although I appreciate that because it wasn't all Ikea and laminate floors it will not appeal to many. However it was beautifully decorated with lots of attention to details and well equipped for our needs. The drive was long and the sight of the deer most mornings and the view over the Firth really amazing. Again it was relatively remote on the edge of the forest although well within Golspie and Brora with a short drive to both if you like town dwelling then its not for you . We both thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would certainly book again."
