"This house is almost a great choice. Unfortunately it is in need of attention. Numerous minor maintenance issues which should be addressed including; no description of where to find the key-safe, loose/malfunctioning door handles and locks, light bulbs not working, one bedroom heater not working, one double mattress long past it's best, no battery in the wall clock, no instructions for generating hot water- all small things which are easy fixes and make a difference. The stairs and upstairs floors were very creaky and noisy. The first person up in the house will wake everyone else immediately. Don't know how it could be fixed but it is a pain when you have young kids. The bigger issue for us was that the house was cold throughout our 3 day stay. Even with all additional heaters switched on, the downstairs never got above 17 degrees and was often less. It seems that there is little or no insulation and a dated, uneconomical and ineffective heating system. The external doors and windows are rotting, draughty and need replaced. The upstairs did warm up enough for the kids but we sat each night downstairs with jackets and/or blankets. In spring/summer/autumn it is probably not an issue but we were visiting for skiing, the outside temp was around -5 to 0 degrees and the house just isn't able to combat those conditions. We live in the highlands and are used to the weather, our own house isn't very warm."

"The cottage is perfectly located, very cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a real get away from it all holiday. Newtonmore is a wonderful village with very helpful and friendly locals and the nearby walks through the glen and alongside the river and gorge are spectacular. Great days out were on the doorstep or within a 90 minute drive with amazing scenery wherever you go. It was my 50th birthday and Diane and Rod very kindly gave me a bottle of fizz and extra dining chairs as we had friends over for dinner one evening.....this was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful. We cannot wait to go back. The roll top bath is a very special treat too. Loved every second and miss being there very much."

"Although my comments appear out of synch with previous visitors to this cottage who seem to have found the cottage to their taste, it wasn't mine. The kitchen was well enough equipped and the cottage was clean on arrival. There were a number of maintenance issues o/s when we arrived which should have been found and dealt with before arrival, and there was an unfortunate insect/lava infestation which marred the overall picture as well.I found there was insufficient furniture especially in the main bedroom and the the furniture generally was a little shabby.I did speak to the owner on these points and lets just say his customer service skills need honing."

"Lovely, comfortable cottage. Very well equipped. The bottle of milk and the bottle of local liqueur were appreciated. It was hot the first couple of nights we were there and we did need the fan on and the window open to cool the bedroom down. There are some very good walks round Newtonmore. Some of the Wildcat Trail marker posts are missing. It's worth getting the book from the Wildcat centre in the village or taking the Ordnance survey map with you. Definitely recommend S22731."

"Such a wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings. The cottage was in a brilliant location in the Cairngorms and the local village had everything we needed. Loved the roll top bath and log fire. Also the porch was lovely to sit out on with a glass of wine in the evening. Also mentioned we were on our honeymoon and received a bottle of bubbly along with the complimentary local whiskey...lovely gesture and very thoughtful! We will definitely be returning on our anniversary!"
