"To start of from the positives, the place had a unique retro feel to it which was fantastic. It ticked all the boxes for a family holiday with pool, tennis court, fire place, local amenities, farm animals etc. I have no problems recommending this property with the following to bear in mind while booking.we were a party of 4 families all with kids. we all felt that the room sizes are bit small to accommodate each family on its own. Moreover there are only two bathrooms on either end with one attached to a room so all the other three families ended up using a common bathroom which became a bit too much. There was a fire place but it wasnt working and there is only 1 small radiator in the lounge so in the night we felt bit cold. The old school windows didnt help as we could feel the cold air coming through them.In addition to this our room which was on the extreme right had big gaps in the floor easy to fit toddler foot in so had to take extra care. But in general the house feels grand and the DVD and books collection complement the theme. The large dining in the conservatory also adds to the grandeur of the property. We were bit lucky as the next door neighbors, who run birds of prey, introduced us to owls.To see the full potential and enjoy the property a summer booking is essential."

"We were disappointed when we arrived at the property to see that the brochure photos of the 'small enclosed garden' were very misleading due to the mirror on the back wall making the garden look much bigger. The advertising material also makes no mention of the children's nursery playground at the back of the cottage which at times was full of screaming children.Although at first glance the property seemed very clean in actual fact the skirting boards were very dirty/ dusty as were some of the panelled doors. Also the landing light did not work neither did the fan oven. Both these things had been reported in the visitors book previously but nothing had been done to fix them.Personally I didn't think that the rope handrail on the stairs was long enough and also that the 6mm electric cable which came from the bathroom through the wall into the back bedroom and then went down through the floor should have been in some sort of conduit or trunking.Bad practice? The last thing is that the torch provided on the landing didn't work either."

"This could have been a lovely cottage, and the setting is beautiful, but it needs a thorough overhaul. It needs decorating and broken things need mending. For instance it needed a lock on the shower room door and the fridge hads just one shelf in the door rather than the five that should have been there. We had good weather but if it had been cold the holes in the front door would have been a problem. Many of the comments in the visitors' book said the same so no-one seems to be taking any notice. There were rather abrupt notices around the place about what we must and must not do and we had to pay £45 extra for the week for use of a cold, small pool which wasn't available at all times (particularly the last morning when we could have had a final swim but chemicals had just been added). Though the £45 was stipulated in the cottage details it seems a lot for what we had.The grounds were well cared for so it's a shame the interior wasn't."

"A large and comfortable house that easily accommodated our family party of 8 people (two grandparents, three adult children and three grandchildren. Lovely large and secure garden for the children to play in with rota access each day to a nice outdoor pool. A lot of places for the family to visit within reasonable travelling distance. The house is an old farmhouse in an attractive rural setting but only minutes from the centre of the attractive small town of Newent. Furniture and fittings are comfortable (not modern), and it has some sloping floors upstairs! The family bathroom is not great but is ok. The kitchen is well equipped. The only real disadvantage for us was the absence of a downstairs toilet but now the grandchildren are a bit older it is less of an issue. It is a house full of character and we loved it and the surroundings."

"Had a great stay at S16235. Booked to go for my husbands birthday with a group of friends. Very spacious, bedrooms good size and beds super comfortable. Was easy to keep warm. The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils you could think of. Local town is walking distance, after a few beers takes time to find your way back (haha). Owner of the cottage was very helpful before hand and had suggestions on where to go depending on what you are looking for. Would defiantly book to go back, maybe in the summer where you can benefit more of the outside space. Only downfall really was the shower wasn’t the best, however for the cost and the duration of time we stayed this didn’t cause an issue for us!"
