"My partner and I enjoyed our stay at S16308 Cottage. It is a traditional stone cottage, adjoining the owners' house and with pretty views forward. Access is by an uneven track (my low-slung sports car had no problems) and parking is above the cottage to the rear. Access to the cottage itself (60 metres) is by steepish steps or potentially slippery grassy slope so possibly not suitable for an elderly person, particularly since the internal stairs are also steep. The garden is pleasantly sunny in the right weather but shared with the owners, who have internal access via a couple of thin wooden doors ("locked"). Noise insulation is therefore poor and the owners' kitchen overlooks the cottage access, again limiting privacy. The cottage is also overlooked from the rear, where the site rises, and the bathroom has no frosted glass, another potential privacy issue. The central heating system is also shared with the owners, tenants having only limited control. The only additional heating is from the solid fuel stove in the sitting room. Wifi is available but insecure and proved intermittent.Decor, furnishings and tableware are pleasantly traditional and in good condition. The oven and microwave work well and appear recent. The bed/s (arranged as a double or singles on request) is/are comfortable and the duvet warm. Some floors are uneven, which might again be a problem for older folk. The rooms are all good sizes, which is not always the case with holiday cottages, and the owners are sensitive regarding their dogs. These are not unduly intrusive and well controlled. The owners welcome tenants with dogs but the cottage does not smell of dogs, another occasional holiday cottage problem. We were welcomed by the owner, shown around the cottage, and invited to ask if there was anything we needed - a pleasant touch these days. There was no 'welcome snack' - scones or whatever - and tenants will need to bring all basic foodstuffs, such as sugar, milk, etc. This part of the Cotswolds is really very interesting and attractive. It is an area which we have regularly driven through but never stayed to appreciate. There is however a great deal to see and enjoy and I would recommend others to do the same. Accepting the limitations of the cottage I would have no hesitation about booking it again."

"The cottage is lovely and excellent value for money. We will definitely consider coming back when our children are older. I would advise though that it isn’t really suitable for children as young as ours. The living space is all on the first floor with a difficult to block staircase in the middle of the room. This was tricky for us as we have two under twos, one of whom was desperate to fling herself down the stairs. There is also no bath which is hard with little ones. That said the hosts had done a number of things to make our stay comfortable which were much appreciated. There were milk, tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us in the very well equipped kitchen and I was especially grateful for the clothes pegs and Tupperware in the cupboards. Overall this was a great place to be, a short drive from the attractions of the Forest of Dean and local supermarkets etc but nestled away on a quiet farm. We loved it but it’s definitely more suited to older children."

"This is a lovely cottage set in beautiful grounds. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design of the rooms. We stay in a lot of holiday cottages and often get annoyed by basic things like a lack of hooks to hang coats but no such problem here. The standard of kitchen appliances and equipment is very high. Generous welcome pack on arrival. Despite it being a one-bedroom cottage the rooms were spacious - the upstairs bedroom is huge with a walk-in wardrobe. We were staying in late October and the house was warm and cosy. The owners are friendly and helpful. The excellent village pub (The Farmer's Boy) is just a 10 minute walk away along a pavement. Very dark at night-time but fine if you come prepared with a good torch. The only negatives for us were the wi-fi, which is only really fast enough for basic internet access/mail etc and the dangerous pull-out from the property's driveway onto the main A40 which would benefit from a mirror."

"Just returned from a lovely long weekend at S75206. Spacious property with a very nice interior and enjoyed the hot tub and pool very much. My only negative would be the kitchen - the oven was complicated to use and not really big enough for us to cook what we were cooking for 8 people. Plus the smoke alarms are very sensitive so you're likely to set them off just making toast! (Better to be safe than sorry I guess). However there is a Beefeater and a Toby Carvery close by - we ate at both and both were excellent! We would also like to thank the owners for accommodating one of our party, who has recently been experiencing walking difficulties, by moving one of the single beds downstairs for her to sleep in. I wouldn't recommend this property if you have mobility issues however we booked this stay long before any health problems developed and the owners were very helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible."

"We had a delightful girlie birthday mountain biking weekend here in this spotless compact little cottage. Lovely location in a magical little valley with rural views from every window. We loved the tidy garden, the neat little farm and the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was thoughtful of Steve to provide tea coffee milk and biscuits for our arrival. The weather turned very chilly while we there but with the excellent central heating we stayed super warm. The lounge was very comfy with a decent TV, and everything in top class condition, with a cosy 80's feel. There was plenty of space for parking and it took just a few minutes to drive to the nearest pub and about 15 mins to the cycle centre. The roads are steep and narrow here - great fun but watch out for deer leaping out in front of you!"
