I would have loved to have given more stars. The cottage itself was lovely and cozy, with great character. We enjoyed the open fire, the layout, the underfloor heating and the views. It was well located in a lovely village. The welcome food items were much appreciated and it was a great setting to spend a couple of cozy wintry days. In terms of constructive criticism, we found a lack of attention to detail, especially concerning cleanliness. The big ticket items were fine (bed, sofas etc.) but examples where it fell short included: sticky smears on the ground floor windows to the garden, placemats with crumbs / glass marks on them, scrambled egg crusted onto one of the pans, chipped plates and a microwave and freezer that needed a good internal wipe down. There was a main lamp not working and the upstairs bathroom (which was very small) had a very drainy smell. We messaged about the lamp on Saturday (having arrived Friday) and were told no-one could attend due to the storm that was blowing through (fair enough), but this was then never followed up on. We messaged the next day (Sunday) about the drains but received no response at all. We arrived mid-evening on a Friday and were due to depart on Tuesday morning, but decided to leave early, on Monday evening, due to the drain smell. It was a lovely property but needs a little TLC and better attention to detail. Check in is quite late at 4pm and check out quite early at 10am. The reason given is so that the cottage can be cleaned properly but I wouldn't say this had been achieved. I hope that's helpful so that these points can be taken into consideration to make improvements for future guests.

Loved the situation and the view. The cottage was well decorated.and we absolutely loved Blockley. The garden room, terrace and views were really fantastic and made our holiday. Some small criticisms - at this level we would expect a washer drier, not just a washer (that is apart from the fact that no-one told us the washing machine was out of order and was only fixed the day before we left....so we had to hand wash some clothes!). My husband found the lighting in some rooms poor particularly the living room. Needed brighter bulbs. We had to turn the AGA off as it was so hot and would have appreciated some step by step guide as to how to turn it on...our mechanically minded son in law looked it up on line and finally worked it out...but without him we would have been stuck. It would also be an idea to put summer duvets on the bed during July and August...we were roasting! A couple of kitchen things that would have been appreciated: some oven gloves....and if I am being very fussy a spaghetti scoop! Also, although the bread bin is fun...the bread you leave doesn't fit into it! Apart from these niggles we really did have a lovely time and we enjoyed the generous welcome hamper. We have already told others good things about the cottage.

      This was an interesting house.

We were a bit surprised when we first arrived at the layout, especially since my husband had currently got some mobility problems. We decided to use the basement bedroom because of this, and, to be fair, the description does mention that this bedroom has fewer stairs and would be best for less mobile visitors. We enjoyed our stay and got used to the many stairs. However, I do feel that there were a couple of issues with the description on the Sykes site. I don't think you can really say that the dining room table is "positioned in the nearby open-plan living/dining room" when the said table is up quite a lot of stairs to the next floor up. The basement bathroom certainly needs a grab rail as the floor is lethal for anyone, let alone someone elderly. No non slip bath mat provided. There was one to share with 2 other bathrooms. And we had to take 2 picnic chairs and a bean bag with us as there are certainly not 'sumptuous seats' enough for 10 adults if the house is full. We did feed back these comments and the owners were lovely and said they would take the comments on board. I would still recommend the house as it is very lovely, and the other bedrooms were beautiful. Also the perfect base from which to visit so many lovely places.

Holiday cottage was comfortable, however, the top floor could certainly benefit from some tlc.. The master bedroom was furnished very basically, wallpaper slipping, needing filling, side table/chest of drawers definitely needs improving, however, the bed was very comfortable. The guest bedroom where we stored our clothes was a huge let down both in furniture and soft furnishings - we would have expected decent clothes hangers not half a dozen wire ones. The bathroom had to be cleaned before we could put our own toiletries on the shelving as this clearly had not been cleaned prior to arrival. The view from the cottage was absolutely spectacular and the garden would benefit from having the dead plants removed - again a little tlc would really help. There is another cottage just a couple of doors down from Foxtail which was cheaper and furnished to a higher standard which we were slightly envious of. In all a lovely cottage but for very little expense and effort it could be so much better.

The cottage was lovely, in a beautiful village, the bedrooms were great and spacious.

It was strange having an bathroom for 2 rooms to share that the second room had to go through the first room to access it. We were all family but my sister was staying in that room and my husband in our room so it meant a bit of planning to ensure they didn't walk in on each other! The garden was nice but had no seating and it was lovely weather so we had to carry chairs outside and I asked a friend who was living nearby to bring us some camping chairs. The company arrived with garden furniture on our last day so it will be there for others but we missed out! The kitchen and laundry room were not very clean when we arrived. We had to clean the bins and the laundry room floor, some of the plates and glasses were also dirty. They could do with adding a coffee machine for a property this size and grading, its only £70 and it would be a very welcome addition. Also a bit more lighting around the dining table would be a good addition as its a dark space.
