"A pleasant cottage but not one for anyone with an issue getting about. It is located on an extremely steep hill which means a difficult climb when you go out for a walk with the dog. The stairs going up to the bedroom leading off the kitchen has quite a tight turn at the top. The cottage has all the utensils you could possibly need for cooking and the kitchen, snug and sitting rooms all have wood burning fires. The sitting room has the TV in it but it is impossible to relax and watch it due to the condition of the only settee in it. The cushions gave up the ghost a long time ago and the settee should be sent to the local dump. The garden is enclosed which is ideal for a dog or small children however there’s a lot of wooden boards and other rubbish proped against the side of the cottage which children could hurt themselves with. There is a decking area at the rear of the cottage but the first step of the staircase has rotted through throwing doubt as to the condition of the rest. The master bedroom has French doors leading out to this decking area but we couldn’t find a key to them so they would be useless as a means of escape if a fire broke out cutting of the escape to the kitchen. This is the 9th time we’ve rented a cottage in the highland area so we’re able to compare to previous rentals. Summing up Kate’s Croft is a clean cottage that needs a bit of clearing up and a bit of TLC to the outside plus that settee definitely needs replaced."

"Our stay at four winds was great.A big thank you to Kirstie & Fraser for there lovely wecome and consideration for us to have a good time at there lovely bungalow. We found four winds very clean, well presented with good quality fixtures and fittings. May I mention that although the description says steps to entry, if you do so at the back door the garden has a more level approach and would be easy for wheelchair ,then all doors are extra wide and all furnished with dissabled access in mind.the drive is also generously wide and we could park the car and open both doors fully. Situated in a quiet area with great views of the surrounding hills from the lounge. There was everything we could hope for and more for cooking and preparing meals.even car washing equipment. All the towels and bedding was very good quality and spotless.the bathroom is newly fitted and again dissabled frendly, great walk in shower with ample hot water.all in all we had a brilliant time."

"Four Winds cottage is a real home away from home, and is the perfect base to explore Loch Ness and the Scottish Highlands, the property is very clean and well presented and has everything that you will need to enjoy your stay, the property is situated in a quiet part of the village with great views of the surrounding countryside, there is, a well stocked shop a short walk away and there are also places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. the kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you will need to enjoy your stay and even has a Pump Espresso Coffee Machine for barista style coffee lovers, the bathroom was very clean and well fitted with a walk in shower that is very powerful and was a refreshing start to the day.the owners are very welcoming and friendly and Four Winds cottage was a perfect base for our stay in the Scottish Highlands and we would definitely stay here again when in the area"

"Lovely renovated farm cottage in a row of 4 located right beside the original working farm. Pleasant and very helpful hosts. The cottage is clean and well presented on the edge of a single track road. A garden with hot tub is located across a gravel driveway that serves all 4 cottages and even though there is a wooden fence and a shed for changing in the garden it didn't feel just as private as previous hot tub cottages I've visited. Lovely sky views at night but some flowers or other features to the garden would be an advantage. On this note possibly net curtains or blinds on the bedroom windows would be beneficial especially on road side bedrooms which is popular with walkers, as do not always want to close curtains through the day. But in the main would highly recommend especially for hikers, not much local amenities for children though Portmahomack is a beautiful village and does have a nice beach"

"We had a fantastic Easter weekend break with our little boy at this very clean and cosy cottage. Fabulous views and lots of little touches that just made the stay that little bit special. Blue by Ewe is well equipped and there was even milk, some biscuits, tea / coffee and some Easter sweets waiting on our arrival! The cottage owners are lovely and we even ordered a home cooked meal which was delicious! (My son can particularly recommend the sweetcorn fritters!) The cottage is right near to Inverewe Gardens which is definitely worth a visit! There are also plenty of local walks and a lovely beach more or less on the doorstep. Gairloch is also worth a visit if you want to do a boat trip. The local shop is well stocked but it is worth doing a stop at Inverness en route if you want to stock up before your stay. All in all, we had a wonderful time!"
