About this property

Perched on the outskirts of the idyllic village of Berriew in Welshpool, is this wonderful two-bedroom annex, The Byre. Attached to the owner’s home, a former Welsh long house, on their working dairy farm and enjoying easy access to the popular destinations of Welshpool and Newtown, and the Shropshire Hills AONB, The Byre is a fantastic dwelling for couples or a family of four seeking their next escape to Wales. Park-up in one of two off-road parking spaces before making your way into your new holiday home. Step into the spacious sitting room, featuring exposed beams where you can look forward to lighting the gas fire and snuggling up on the plush sofas as your favourite show plays out on the Smart TV, perfect after a day of exploring. Cook-up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, featuring a handy dishwasher and washing machine, ready to savour at the dining table for four. On warmer days, enjoy dinner alfresco out in the enclosed gardens, as the little ones enjoy the delights of the trampoline and a wooden fort. Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can cross the split-level landing to a well-appointed bathroom where you can indulge in a soothing soak in the bath or freshen up with a shower. When sleep calls, retire to one of two well-presented bedrooms, a king-size with TV and a twin, both with plenty of storage and idyllic views across the garden. Head into the local village, where you will find the welcoming Lion Hotel and the Lychgate Cottage Tearoom and Deli, perfect for those evening’s when you don’t feel like cooking. Within the village you will also find a well-stocked shop for picking up essentials, the picturesque Woodland Garden for leisurely strolls and the Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture. Nearby, you will find the Dolydd Hafren Nature Reserve, perfect for the wildlife enthusiasts in your party, or if that isn’t your thing, why not head to the Lakeside Golf Course where you can test out your swing? Next stop is Montgomery, where you can visit the fascinating ruins of an 11th-century castle, brush up on the local history at the 16th-century Old Bell Museum, or sample the local ales at Monty’s Brewery. Continue onto Welshpool, home to the National Trust site of Powis Castle, The Wharf Powysland Museum and Welshpool Library, the Llyn Coed y Dinas Nature Reserve and the charming Welshpool & Llanfair Railway, perfect for a relaxing ride through your scenic surroundings. Next stop is Newtown, where you can tour the Robert Owen Museum, enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Severn and the Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve followed by a meal at the popular eateries of The Black Boy and Waggon and Horses. Your superb location has access to a wealth of some of the region's best walks including the 177-mile Offa’s Dyke, The Stiperstones and The Wreckin, Shropshire’s renowned hill. For a memorable getaway, choose The Byre.

Near the English border, the quaint Mid-Wales village of Berriew is a hidden gem replete with quaint little black-and-white houses, a grand church, two country pubs, an award-winning butcher's shop and a deli/cafe.
