Maes Y Wawr is a spacious and well-equipped cottage with stunning views, ideal for family gatherings and those seeking a peaceful atmosphere. It offers modern bathrooms, a games room for entertainment, and a balcony for relaxing. Some guests noted the unique charm of the property, despite its old-fashioned aspects.
Guests found the property to be tidy overall with fresh linen and towels, but noted a lack of attention to detail, such as dead flies on window sills and some kitchen items not thoroughly cleaned.
The property boasts great views and is excellent for stargazing due to minimal light pollution. However, the narrow access road and lack of safe walking paths for dogs were mentioned as downsides.
The property is described as very spacious and comfortable, with large open spaces and big rooms, providing a great environment for relaxation and family time.
The house is well-equipped with a games room and a telescope for guests' enjoyment. However, suggestions for improvement include the addition of a BBQ area and clearer instructions for recycling and waste disposal.
There were no mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Conveniently located in an excellent touring location, guests can enjoy fantastic walks along the scenic Pembrey Country Park with 8 miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan. Pembrey must be the only place in Europe where visitors can sunbathe, swim and hunt for shipwrecks on the beaches, then experience the thrill of a toboggan run or race down the park’s dry ski slope. Enjoy a round of golf at the famous Jack Nicklaus course, Llanelli or the Ashburnam links course, or watch live sport at the Llanelli Scarlet’s Rugby Stadium and nearby Ffos Las Racecourse. A short drive inland brings guests to the county’s rolling countryside which is scattered with charming market towns including Llandeilo and Carmarthen, as well as numerous medieval sites dotted around. A trip to Carmarthenshire is not complete without a visit to Laugharne, which was formerly home to famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, who described the charming village as ‘the strangest town in Wales’. Take a 40-minute drive into Pembrokeshire and discover the award-winning leisure attractions of Oakwood, Folly Farm and Anna’s Welsh Zoo. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

First impression was wow. Great views from the balcony plus ideal with no light pollution for viewing the night sky through the telescope provided. Downside of location is the narrow access road and no safe walks with the dog even in the adjoining field.Accommodation very large and great for two families with lots of character. House layout is strange, obviously been added to over the years. Several private locked rooms scattered around. Games room a big hit with teenagers. A BBQ on either the top patio or bottom lawn would have been good for quiet evening dining in. Cleanliness could be better, linen and towels all fresh and clean, everywhere looked clean and tidy but lacked attention to detail. Lots of dead flies on window sills and some kitchen items poorly washed. For a dog friendly property there was no obvious place for disposal of waste plus never had to dispose of bottles off site ever before when all other plastic, foil and tin items okay recycled.

We had been left the wrong keys, so we were waiting outside until 7pm. However, we still had a good holiday and the views were great.
