    Carmarthen Holiday Cottages

Carmarthen sits on the banks of the River Tywi just about 8 miles before it flows into Carmarthen Bay. The town's Welsh name is Caerfyrddin, which translates to ‘Merlin’s Fort’, so it’ll be no surprise to you that one of its most famous early residents was King Arthur’s wizard, Merlin. The oldest manuscript ever found written entirely in Welsh, The Black Book of Carmarthen, contains several poems and verses about him. Nip into the Carmarthenshire County Museum to learn more and discover the town's fascinating history, which includes associations with the Celtic Demetae tribe and the Franciscan Friars, and still maintains the remains of a Roman amphitheatre.

Carmarthen holiday cottages come in all shapes and sizes, from camping pods in Broadway, a converted cabin in the rolling countryside and coastal cottages with 4-seater hot tub! Whether you're travelling with family, friends or just want a break away with your loved one, you're sure to find the perfect spot. We've got dog-friendly accommodation too, so bring your furry friend.

Carmarthen holiday cottages can be booked through Snaptrip, all protected by our best price guarantee. With thousands of properties to choose from throughout the UK, our friendly customer service team are on hand to help you decide.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Stephen - Verified booking

The hosts were very accommodating and tried to ensure that our stay was enjoyable, however we found the accommodation somewhat dated and much too small for our needs ( this probably our own fault for not enquiring further).

The photographs in the listing presumably were taken with a wide angle lens and make the rooms appear much larger than they actually are, the kitchen/living room is very cramped and the bathroom felt dated. The lane leading to the listing is full of very large potholes and we are just glad of the choice of vehicles for this trip, I would not have liked taking my saloon through that obstacle course. The local pub, the Fox and Hounds was a mixed bag, good meal the first visit, one hour wait for food and an inedible steak the second visit, however locals and staff were extremely friendly. This cottage will be ideal for some, great central location for visits to beaches, Carmarthen and even Brecon Beacons , but we needed something a little larger, maybe a little newer (again our fault) and warning of worn out lane would be helpful.

I loved my stay at Cwtch Cowin, Bruce and Sylvia are really friendly and welcoming but not intrusive.

I had my two dogs with me & the enclosed garden was a real bonus. This was probably the best dog friendly place I've stayed in. The owners even provided dog bowls and a large plastic tray to put food & water bowls on. The property is approached by way of a pretty rough farm track that can flood at the junction to the main road in heavy rain but not to any worrying depth. It's really well furnished and very comfortable. It has a wet room type bathroom. The bedroom is a decent size with lots of storage space, the bed itself was very comfy. The nearby village has a small shop but larger stores are in St Clears a bit further out. It was a good base for exploring the south coast, Pendine, Pembery park and the Gower. It got a big thumbs up from me & my dogs.

The property is an annexe to the owners home.

It is small but two of us ( my husband not very mobile) plus our Irish Terrier had plenty of room. A contained garden for your dog or you can arrange to let your dog in the large garden with any boarded dogs at the time. The owners are friendly, helpful and on hand to give any advice on places to go, we ordered a hired mobility scooter to be delivered to the property which was there before we arrived. The village shop is well stocked, fresh bread, eggs etc and the pub is friendly and you can eat in the bar with your dog, food is very good. Lots of beautiful beaches a short drive away, all had big areas which allowed dogs on even though we were there after the 1st May. We would definitely stay here again. Well worth the 310 mile drive from Yorkshire

We found Green Grove Barn a perfect place to stay.

It had everything we needed and being out in the country it is so quiet and peaceful. The 'WOW' factor of the house is the wonderful view from the lounge and its balcony of the lake, fields and hills. When we visited, the Barn had not been open long and all the “white goods” were brand new and sparkling clean. The rooms are spacious and are beautifully decorated with plenty of storage space. The kitchen has everything you could ever need. Kathy and Peter were so friendly and welcoming and the information file they provided was excellent with not only details of the house but also suggestions of places to visit and local walks. We couldn't have wished for better accommodation.

The owners are really friendly and nothing too much trouble.

The cottage is ideal for anyone with a dog, as the owners are dog people and they took an interest in my dog, which is the main reason I went back to this cottage(Third time now). Everything was in the cottage, well equipped, totally spotless and clean. Hugh garden to let the dogs run around, pub about 3/4 of a mile up the road, as well as shop(Be careful, some of the walk is on a road with no footpath). About 15 minutes in the car from the beach and main supermarket. I would recommend this cottage. I look forward to making a return visit. Thank you both for yet another stay. Alan, Stratford on Avon.
