    About this property

Dating from 1863 this traditional sail-makers cottage lies just 100 yards from the seafront in Portessie.
Just 100 yards from the seafront in Portessie, and an additional 200 yards to the sandy beach, dating from 1863 this traditional, detached sail-makers cottage enjoys sea views from the bedrooms and the decked area, and views of Seal Island from the twin bedroom. Comfortable and cosy, it is situated just a short stroll from the harbour and beach with rock pools. With attention to detail, the kitchen and downstairs bathroom have been renovated to a good standard and the property benefits from the downstairs windows having shutters. You will receive a refreshment welcome pack upon arrival and not forgetting your four-legged friends too, they will also have a doggy welcome pack waiting. This coastline’s stunning scenery, charming fishing villages and picturesque harbours invite exploration, and at Buckie harbour there are local boat trips offering a chance to spot dolphins, whales or seals. Ideally located to reach the many golf courses dotted around the area. Just 5 minutes’ walk behind the cottage lies miles of disused railway line, which has now been converted for cycling and dog walking adventures. There is on-site parking for 1 car and additional on road parking on the seafront (with no restrictions). The world famous Whisky and Castle trails are nearby. Shop and restaurant 500 yards, pub 350 yards.

    "Good place 'to switch off'!!"

"thoroughly enjoyed my week at Boatmans. Lots of walking and wildlife watching. Village shop was shut everytime I passed, but supermarkets in Buckie are only 5 mins down the road, and the Bijou by the Sea wasnt serving evening meals, so you couldnt eat out without driving (hence the 9 score). The house was warm, welcoming, spotless and home from home. Lots of walking without driving for miles. Would definitely stay there again"

"The owners have given great attention to detail in this lovely old cottage. We all had a very comfortable time and would have no hesitation of recommending this cottage to friends."

"Clean and comfortable, not the most accessible to get to and the inside stair would be limiting for older people"

"owners easily contacted and supportive beautiful cottage would recommend to friends."

"Had a lovely week at the boatman's cottage. Very comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen and the sea views from the bedrooms and raised decking were fab. The only thing was, I presumed because it was dog friendly that there would be an enclosed garden, but there was not. However the dogs loved the beach when the tide was out. Overall nice place. Lovely neighbours. Very peacefull."

"A charming well modernised comfortable cottage in a period residential community which is remarkably quiet. The cottage is well equipped and surprisingly roomy although the low doorways take some getting used to. The streets are narrow and quaint. The area is one which has bars rather than pubs if that is where you would look for meals out. There is a delightful seafront cafe, Bijou by the Sea, which is modern, light, airy and the food is excellent (see TripAdvisor) and is within easy walking distance. Portessie is, like all of the coastal villages either side a fishing community with an interesting harbour area and a coastline which is a riot of varied fauna & flora. For those who like being out and about on foot there are short easy strolls or longer walks available on a beautiful coastline with dolphins close inshore and a seal community on a beach within a few miles. A perfect location for a quiet, laid back and restful break."

"Great place to stay for a peaceful holiday . Every thing you could wish for . Kevin the owner could not do more and is a really nice person . He even supplied a fan on my request. The location was perfect for the sights we wanted to see and to watch the seals in the nearby bays were a bonus. I would recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone. Kevin and your wife a big big thank you. X"

"Boatman's Cottage is a real gem. It is very cosy and comfortable, spotlessly clean, quirky and full of character and the bonus is that it also has views across the Moray Firth. It is really well equipped , there was nothing that we needed that wasn't supplied. It is an ideal base for exploring this part of Scotland and we were delighted to see the resident seals. We would be very happy to return to this lovely cottage."
