Guests say

The Old Barn is a cosy, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful, scenic location near Whitby, ideal for those seeking relaxation and countryside charm. Guests consistently praise the beautiful views, cleanliness, and the friendly, attentive owner. The cottage is well-suited for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and moors, with local pubs and attractions within easy reach. While a few minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotlessly clean, tidy, and well-organised, with no significant complaints about cleanliness.

Guests love the remote, tranquil setting with stunning countryside views, yet appreciate the proximity to beaches, villages, and local attractions. The isolated location may not suit everyone, but is a highlight for most.

The cottage is described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, even in cold weather. Guests mention restful stays and well-sized bedrooms, with only minor issues such as a temperamental shower.

The property is well-equipped, with a good kitchen, games room, and washing machine. Some minor maintenance needs (e.g., shower, front door, carpet) were mentioned, but did not detract significantly from guests' enjoyment.

The owner is frequently praised for being friendly, helpful, and communicative, providing useful information and advice. While gifts are not mentioned, the attentive service stands out, though specific gifts cannot be guaranteed.

We loved our break at the old barn, we were looking for an isolated countryside break with day trips within a reasonable journey. This cottage ticked the boxes for us, it was quiet and isolated without being too far away from civilisation.Trips to the coast are all within 25/30 minutes and there is a very good pub/restaurant (The Eskdale) which would be within walking distance, but also has parking. We also enjoyed going out on the moors to watch the nesting birds. There's also a barn owl at the property, which we were fortunate enough to see each evening.A very peaceful and relaxing break.

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday with our two dogs in a fantastic location. Roma (owner) was very friendly and made us aware of all the necessary updated information regarding the cottage.
