About this property

15 George Street is a charming Victorian property with sea views boasting lots of character and set in the heart of Whitby, where its historic harbour glistens with colourful boats and its abbey towers over red rooftops. This is the ideal place for a family holiday with friends in a wonderful area of North Yorkshire. Climb three steps to the entrance hallway and head straight through to the main sitting room, which has a large bay window streaming in lots of natural light. The electric fire adds warmth to the room during those colder months, where you can gather in the evenings and tune into the Smart TV or enjoy a board game together. Move through to the second sitting room for some peace and quiet, or head down to the lower ground floor for a delicious homemade meal around the dining table, as the woodburning stove crackles away in the background. The kitchen area is also on the lower ground floor and boasts a range cooker as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility next door. There is access to the back yard from here, where you can sit out with a drink and discuss events from your day. Find the master bedroom and family bathroom up on the first level, where you can indulge a hot soak in the bathtub on return from one of your walks. Resting on the second floor, the double bedroom showcases fabulous views over the rooftops towards Whitby Abbey and the moors through the high window, while the twin and single bedrooms are ideal for those travelling with children or grandparents. Discover many attractions in the town centre, which is a pleasant stroll away and has beaches, the harbour and many shops, pubs and restaurants along its winding streets and of course the 199 steps to reach the abbey. Day trips can be enjoyed at Robin Hood's Bay or the seaside resort of Scarborough, while the North York Moors offer plenty to do in the great outdoors; you'll be spoilt for walking and cycling trails, there is also a golf course around a 10 minute drive away. Choose this delightful holiday let for that much-needed break to Yorkshire.

The fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk with winding streets and hidden alleys, its harbour, beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps. There was plenty of space and storage for us all. The kitchen was well equipped which made it easy for family meals. The house was very warm, and the bathrooms were great particularly the showers which were hot and powerful. The furniture was modern and comfortable. The location was excellent, being close to the town. The information folder needs updating, as the management company listed at the front was out of date. I called on the first evening to ask about a remote control for the TV in the lounge to be told that "we don't clean that property, ots npt.kne of ours". Luckily the remote control from the kitchen diner worked for both TVs, but if we had had a serious issue over the bank holiday weekend, we would have been stuck with noone to contact. This could have been an issue! Overall the house was great for our needs, and we really enjoyed our stay there.

    Handy location, close to everything.

Great location as it was near everything we wanted to visit. Would say that you need mirrors in all the bedrooms though. Looking forward to revisiting soon.
