Snaptrip says

Eskview Cottage in Whitby is highly praised for its cleanliness, stunning riverside location, and the charm of passing steam trains. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and the thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and biscuits. While some find the seating and fridge size less than ideal, the overall experience is delightful, with many planning return visits.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently note the cottage's exceptional cleanliness, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition upon arrival. The attention to cleanliness contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.

The location is frequently lauded for its proximity to Whitby, the scenic river views, and the novelty of nearby steam trains. The convenience of private parking and easy access to local attractions adds to the appeal.

While many guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, there are remarks about the seating, particularly the sofa, being worn or uncomfortable for some. The beds and other amenities, however, receive positive feedback.

Guests mention thoughtful extras like milk and biscuits on arrival, which are greatly appreciated. It should be noted that while these gestures enhance the experience, such gifts are offered at the owner's discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

This charming, modern semi-detached property, is situated in an enviable position on the banks of the River Esk, in the popular village of Ruswarp. Set in the grounds of a former mill, this comfortable cottage provides excellent accommodation for those wishing to stay in a tranquil riverside setting, but within a few minutes’ drive to the historic seaside town of Whitby. Downstairs, there is a spacious sitting room and a bright sunny kitchen with a dining area to one end. Stairs lead up from the sitting room to the two bedrooms and the contemporary family bathroom. Outside, an enclosed south facing decked patio has gated access to the river, a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the abundance of wildlife on the river - herons, kingfishers and cormorants are amongst the frequent visitors, along with seals that are regularly seen swimming upstream! With the added benefit of a boat landing, guests are able to bring canoes and kayaks. Just across the river lies the Esk Valley railway line, a superb vantage point to watch the steam trains that regularly pass by in the summer months. Ruswarp village has excellent facilities, including a renowned butcher's, a local inn serving real ales and food and boating on the river. Children will enjoy a ride on the miniature steam railway and Mini Monsterz soft play centre can while away a wet afternoon! A nearby public footpath provides a pleasant twenty minute walk into Whitby, with its narrow cobbled streets, long sandy beaches and famous abbey. With the stunning countryside of the heather-clad moors close by, and a spectacular coastline, this Ruswarp cottage provides a good base to explore this beautiful area.

Ruswarp lies on the River Esk, with old stone cottages lining the main street. Ruswap has excellent amenities, including a local pub, a village shop and a local butcher. The Esk Valley Walk runs through the village, and it is an easy 25 minute walk to the centre of Whitby. Ruswarp has a regular bus service, and the single track railway has regular steam trains running through.

Pub is a 2 min walk, same as train station if you want a day out with no car. Village butchers is amazing. A wonderful place to stay any time of year.

Well equipped kitchen, bedrooms nicely laid out, all area's spotless and no problem with parking. The view at the back is stunning with the "River Esk" and the Railway Line which trains run regularly on a daily basis. Watch out for the cheeky ducks looking for their breakfast in the morning. Perfect for "Whitby" and surrounding areas, Would recommend to other and would return.
