About this property

An outstanding, detached cottage with an outdoor hot tub, and large garden offering lovely views of the surrounding countryside, in the tiny hamlet of Blackshaw Head, two miles from Hebden Bridge. From the first-class accommodation and the peaceful surroundings to the quality fixtures and fittings, this cottage is perfect for a romantic holiday or just for those wishing to get away from it all. Boasting slate flooring, underfloor heating, exposed ceiling beams and a warm and cosy woodburner, the cottage also has a stylish bedroom and a fabulous wet room. The Pennine Way and the Pennine Bridleway run close by, the local village pub is just a short walk and there is a locally renowned farm shop just a mile away. This cottage is in a quiet location, yet within a twenty five minute walk of Hebden Bridge itself, with its lively nightlife, curiosity shops and the old cinema where they serve mugs of tea and cakes. Enjoy walks across the Bronte Moors, visit the village of Heptonstall, or explore the home of the Bronte sisters in Haworth. A superb cottage at any time of the year.

The Pennine town of Hebden Bridge sits in the Calderdale area and provides home to the Rochdale canal and a Victorian railway station. The area is a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway, whilst the Eureka Museum is close by in Halifax.

It is perfect for a couple like us and the surroundings are spectacular. We found the property perfectly cosy and comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The hot-tub is a real winner - lazing in there at the end of the day, overlooking such beautiful countryside was a super holiday treat! We really appreciated the warm welcome from Vicki and the delicious shortbread that awaited our arrival. If Pack Horse Stables wasn't such a long drive from our home, we would be regular visitors! Given the wonderful welcome Vicki gave us, we hesitate to offer any suggestions. Vicki: we really don't want you to think of this as criticism but we read somewhere (in your info folder, perhaps) that you invited suggestions; none of our following suggestions would have substantially improved our stay (as I wrote above, we were perfectly cosy and comfortable) but they might be simple ways of taking your five-star property to five-star-plus!! We would recommend compiling all your key information in one place (that info folder) rather than having notes stuck on the walls and bundles of paper, maps and leaflets in drawers and on shelves, and leave the folder somewhere prominent - it was several hours after we arrived that we found it and at first, we assumed there wasn't one. Having stayed in several AirBnB properties (I appreciate yours strictly isn't one but it is marketed on AirBnB), there are some kitchen staples that are often provided that you could consider providing - milk, sugar, coffee (I think there may have been tea but we don't drink it), bread, cooking oil, for example. Whilst the shortbread was delicious, when we arrived we couldn't make a cup of coffee to go with it! We would have found a simple lemon/lime juicer useful in the kitchen - comes in handy for making cocktails! Another tea-towel or two wouldn't have gone amiss (I know we could have asked you for this but it didn't really cause any major problem) and possibly access to another couple bath-towels (we were lucky to have glorious weather so it was easy to dry our towels but if it had been wet, we would have struggled). I hope you find these suggestions helpful. Thanks again for such a brilliant week.

It’s been beautifully renovated so is very comfortable, while maintaining lots of character and charm. Lots of amazing walks from the doorstep. The hot tub and wood stove mean that even if the weather isn’t great for walking, you will still have a lovely cozy time. The hosts were really friendly and quick to respond to any questions. I hope we’ll be back!

It contained everything we needed for a lovely, relaxing holiday and we will definitely be back!
