Guests have praised Bilsdale Cottage for its peaceful and beautiful rural setting, cosy and comfortable interiors, and good quality amenities. The location is ideal for exploring North Yorkshire, with easy access to local attractions and shops in Thirsk. The welcoming hosts and well-equipped kitchen add to the pleasant experience, although some minor suggestions for additional cutlery and a refresh were noted.
The cottage received positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as 'spotlessly clean' and 'very clean'. There was a single mention of the en suite shower room potentially needing a more thorough clean, but this seems to be an isolated comment.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful scenery, and convenience for exploring the local area. The proximity to Thirsk and local pubs adds to the appeal, with guests appreciating the peaceful rural setting.
Comfort is consistently highlighted, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the bed very comfortable. There was a minor note about the sofa size, but overall, the cottage is regarded as a comfortable retreat.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being described as well-equipped. However, some guests mentioned a lack of cutlery and crockery, and the absence of kitchen scissors and kitchen roll, suggesting room for improvement.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to score this category. However, the hosts are described as welcoming and responsive, which indicates a degree of thoughtfulness in their hospitality.

Bilsdale cottage has been converted from an old farm building. The old beams have been cleaned up and left exposed to add character. It’s been very well insulated and was very warm and cosy with the central heating on. Kitchen is very well equipped. Location is delightfully quiet, but it is only a couple of miles to the main road so as long as you have a car you can soon be enjoying God’s county. There is a pub but no shop in local village. But delightful Thirsk with shops and market is only six miles away. Our hostess was available but we only needed to touch base, we felt very much at home from the get go. Thoroughly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at Bilsdale Cottage. The setting is superb, the scenery beautiful and the peace and tranquillity most relaxing. The location gives convenient access to many lovely places and there is an excellent pub, 'The Dog and Gun', within a couple of miles which serves great food and is friendly and welcoming. The cottage itself is cosy and relatively well-equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels of good quality. We would have liked more cutlery and crockery as we were disinclined to waste time washing up but didn't want to run the dishwasher unnecessarily. On the whole, the cottage was a pleasant place to stay but could, perhaps, benefit from a refresh and a clean, particularly in the en suite shower room.
