Whilst in the other direction visitors can enjoy the riverside market town of Woodbridge, 13 miles, with a swimming pool and independent cinema, the ancient burial ground at Sutton Hoo (National Trust) and the Victorian seaside resort of Felixstowe, 28 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

    "good points : plenty of room, adequately equipped, clean and tidy, nice homely feel.Not so good : over-flowing bins and bags of rubbish outside, in front of key safe (by the smell they had been there for some time).Mattresses and duvets on beds had all seen better days and were not that comfortable.Garden untidy.Not obvious that the fridge in the utility room was a fridge not a freezer.Shower head in upstairs bathroom leaking and needs replacing."

    "The house was comfortable and perfect for a group of 10 which included 5 children. Very conveniently situated for day to day living and within easy reach of places to visit. Our group was made up of 3 families each having a car and this proved to be a problem for us. However, our group had a very pleasant stay."

    "We completely fell in love with Varley House, it is quirky and full of character and we really enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies. It is very spacious and is full of original features. The sitting room is huge with a big inglenook and wood burning stove which was very cozy in the evenings. The bedrooms are a great size and the children loved having the two staircases to explore. The kitchen has everything you'd need and there is lots of dining space. Bathrooms were both very clean and lots of hot water. The house has a lovely garden out the back where you can sit out. Saxmundham is a great location, so near to so many things. All in all a great fine and we definitely want to come back again next year"

    "We all had a lovely holiday at Varley House.The house is very comfy .The kitchen is very well equipped.A nice garden to relax in too.The house has a lot of historic charm which we loved. Nice and warm too.....There is a lot to do in the area and the coast is easy to get to with a short drive. Saxmundham is a pleasant little town a few pubs and supermarkets too. We hope to return.Thank you to Anna and Karen for speedily returning an item to me which I left behind."

    "I'm sure the owners were unaware of how bad the cottage was as I think they do not live locally. Curtains were hanging off the rails, light bulbs were out with cobwebs hanging from them. Bits of old toys and balls of animal hair were under the settee and the rugs were covered in animal hair. These and many more were photographed and reported. But the worst of all was when we stripped our beds at the end of our stay as requested, and I found a large brown stain on my mattress. The cottage needs someone to have a 'walk through' to take an infantry of what needs mending/cleaning/fixing to get it back up to scratch. But I'm going to finish on a more positive note. The kitchen was very well equipped and clean, sorry I couldn't say any more."
