Lorna is lovely and is a brilliant host. Sadly Sea Cottage has several shortcomings. It is cluttered with lots of things that are not needed for a rental property. It is Lornas home with clutter and bits of broken furniture kept in the room with the washing machine. We also found there were some less than desirable smells so we bought a few air fresheners. Lovely setting but could be much better

We arrived at the cottage after an almost 8 hour journey. We know the area well and the views are fantastic. It's our preference not to meet owners, preferring to collect keys from a key safe and read any instructions for the cottage if needed. We have been renting for over 35 years, so are used to how a rental property works.I had read all the previous reviews before booking and do agree with some points; The furniture is a bit outdated but as per the pictures, the kettle lid was still broken, no visitors book.I personally found food crumbs in one of the cutlery drawers, which prompted me to instantly wash all cutlery and crockery. The fridge also had food marks so I cleaned that too.The overall impression I got was that the cottage has things in it the owner no longer needs at home; too much clutter in the kitchen with 4 sets of old cutlery as an example and what looked like stained used Chinese food trays. The kitchen could do with a clear out and new matching cutlery, crockery and glasses for 4 people. There was also an odd damp smell, prompting the purchase of an air freshener. After a day, we noticed a great deal of condensation builds up on windows, with staining on carpets and what looks like the beginning of damp or mould around the kitchen window. After 2 days the sugar was damp and so was kitchen towel.I imagine that in summer some of these things would not be noticeable and we didn't contact the owner as didn't see what she could do.We would come again, as now know what to expect but a declutter would be good and reduce some of the plants which aren't helping with the humidity. I hope these comments are used in a positive way as otherwise it was a perfect holiday.

Had an amazing week at this lovely property. The owner, Lorna was so friendly and welcoming on arrival and checked in on us mid week as there was a storm forecast - very thoughtful. The weather was very changeable during our week there but we were gifted with rainbows every day and stunning views from this gorgeous property. We spent a wonderful few days exploring Devon - my highlight was Buckfast Abbey absolutely stunning.Look forward to another stay in the future as there is still so much we left unexplored!
