This characterful cottage boasts a fantastic location in Port Isaac which is easily recognisable as the setting of Doc Martin, the cottage itself featured heavily in an episode of the TV show! It also benefits from both the stunning coastline and easy access to the countryside, a close location to the village’s amenities and a welcoming interior adorned with exposed beams and parquet flooring; the perfect setting for families or friends looking to explore the wonders of Cornwall. Make your way into your new home-from-home and head straight into the fully-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up tasty meals that the whole family can enjoy around the dining table. Tuck into this delicious meal and raise a toast to your getaway before unwinding on the plush sofas in front of the smart 4k TV or spark up competition with the collection of games available. When the evening draws to a close, follow the stairs to the first floor where you can wash off the day’s adventures in the shower room before sloping off to sleep in either of the two double bedrooms or the single room. During the day, take a short walk to Port Gaverne Beach where you can soak up the sun, admire the stunning views across the azure, explore the surrounding caves or take to the open water on paddle boards or kayaks. Later, fans of Doc Martin, can explore iconic filming locations like Doyden Castle, the Golden Lion Pub, Louisa’s home on Fore Street or the windswept Bodmin Moor. Follow the coast to find other iconic coastal village including Polzeath with its beautiful beach, Padstow housing the National Lobster Hatchery and picturesque harbour and Newquay which is famed for its surfing opportunities, exotic zoo and family-friendly aquarium. Explore the wonders of the Cornish coast at Honey Cottage.

The harbour town of Port Isaac is one of Cornwall's greatest attractions. The historic village in the valley, which was once used for fishing, slate export, and smuggling, has remained almost unchanged since the turn of the last century. There is a wide variety of housing options, from charming cottages to spacious cliffside mansions, all within walking distance of the village's many eateries and boutiques. As the tide goes out, the sandy harbour fills with rock pools. Visitors flock to the village to see its many sights, such as the imposing Doyden Castle, the picturesque Lundy Bay, and the world-famous Doc Martin's clinic, and to park in the plentiful lots at the village's highest point. The village also features numerous bars, eateries, and boutiques. It's conveniently located within a short drive to the sandy shores of Polzeath, Daymer, and Rock, making it ideal for getaways of all kinds.

We really enjoyed our stay however had a big problem with the cottage- the damp smell. When we arrived the damp smell hit us straight away. We opened all of the windows which seemed to help but it didn’t go away at all. The cupboards in the kitchen were particularly pungent but the cupboard under the stairs was the worst! The smell was so strong that the crockery, cups and glasses even smelled of it. We have also returned home smelling of damp. There were a couple of other smaller issues like the bedding and towels not being there when we arrived and the kettle being black inside, but both of these were rectified quickly when we let John Bray know, who have an office nearby. The downstairs and back bedroom in the cottage are well decorated but the two remaining bedrooms need a lot of attention. We really liked the character of the cottage and if the smell was taken away we would definitely stay again, but as it is we definitely would not. I actually think it gave me a bad chest! I also think that it should be mentioned in the initial information (before booking) that the parking space is up a very steep incline from the cottage as this could present as a problem to many people. We fell in love with Port Isaac itself and will definitely be staying again but unfortunately not in Honey Cottage.

I had to wash the cockery we wanted to use and leave it out of the cupboard as it was picking up the smell from the cupboard, the drawers in the back bedroom were unusable for the same reason. My chest was not good by the end of the week due to the damp. Maybe the damp needs to be looked at. We had no hot water until Tuesday as the tank was no heating up, due to confusion over the key we had to wait until Tuesday. The beds were really comfortable and we slept well.
