About this property

Poplar Cottage is a beautifully presented traditional Cornish cottage nestled in the very heart of Port Isaac, a working fishing village on the North Cornwall coast. The picturesque harbour is just a short walk away from the property, and its central location enjoys immediate access to a wealth of independent shops, galleries, cafés, pubs and seafood restaurants. Retaining beamed ceilings and a traditional Cornish stone fireplace now housing a log burner, this magical cottage provides the perfect retreat for a family or group of friends looking to enjoy Port Isaac and the surrounding area.

Providing the perfect place to relax, the very well-equipped kitchen and open plan dining / sitting room are both homely and welcoming. Acting as the hub of the house, this space is particularly social and is a great environment in which to unwind after a day exploring, and in the colder months, the log burner makes the room feel particularly cosy. In the evenings, retire to the upper floors, where there are three bedrooms; on the first floor the double bedroom leads through to a comfortable single bedroom and shared bathroom – a wonderful set up for families with little ones. Head up to the second floor and you will find a spacious master bedroom and a luxury en-suite bathroom. The private and enclosed garden boasts both patio and lawn, both of which provide a calm oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the village.

Poplar Cottage is perfectly situated to take advantage of the thriving, ambient village life, and is just a stone’s throw from the beach where you can enjoy rockpool rambles, or perhaps a tipple of two in one of the waterside pubs. Port Isaac is jam packed with independent shops, galleries and eateries, and you won’t find yourself short of things to do when visiting. Further afield, Polzeath and its world renowned surfing beach is just a short drive away, whilst the boating and sailing hub of Rock is nearby, from which you can catch the ferry to Padstow should you wish. Poplar Cottage is a quintessential Cornish cottage, and is the perfect retreat from which to enjoy all that North Cornwall has to offer.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

Port Isaac is full of fabulous places to eat, and each one we ate at we found the food to be superb and the staff so friendly and helpful. Although for the most the cottage was clean there were a number of cobwebs and the main bathroom tiles around the bath were badly marked and would benefit from a good scrub. The salt mill was broken, the blind in the top bedroom had a broken chain, the blind in the middle bedroom needs attention, and the garden really needs some major attention. There was also no potato masher in the kitchen. The above is for your information so action can be taken to rectify the points highlighted. None of the above impacted our stay and we would highly recommend Poplar Cottage and Port Isaac. The parking space for the cottage was a bonus too. Port Isaac isn’t for the faint hearted as the village is at the bottom of a very steep hill, so lots of walking, steep hill climbing and steps were involved in our weeks stay. All very worth it though.

Kitchen had everything that we needed. Back garden was great for our little westie to enjoy sniffing his way around every inch of the grass! 3 little issues occurred during our stay & where fixed within 2 hours of being highlighted, great service from the maintenance team! We would certainly stay here again
