About this property

Disley 1.5miles. This lovely detached holiday home is set in the middle of beautiful countryside, overlooking Lyme Park and surrounded by fields and woodland. It is beside the owners’ 17th century cottage on the outskirts of Disley, a thriving village on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is a wonderful place for couples to relax, escape the stresses of day-to-day life, and explore this beautiful area of Derbyshire. At the bottom of a long driveway, lined with lawns and plant borders, the front door opens into a spacious hallway with plenty of space to store shoes and walking boots. The bedroom is bright and comfortable, with a king-size bed and lots of storage in a wardrobe and chest of drawers, so you can make yourselves right at home. Close to the bedroom is a modern bathroom with a heated towel rail, P-shaped bath and shower. The open plan living area is a great place to relax and unwind after a long walk, and prepare delicious meals to enjoy with a bottle of wine at the dining table. When the sun is shining, you can throw open the patio doors and step outside to eat in the sunshine. Because of its proximity to the Peak District National Park, The Lodge is an excellent choice for walkers and cyclists. It is also just a stone’s throw from the National Trust-managed Lyme Park; a magnificent mansion house surrounded by beautiful gardens and a deer park. A mile and a half away, the village of Disley is a lively, friendly hub with an abundance of places to eat and drink. Visit Etherow Country Park Nature Reserve, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and the popular market towns of Buxton and Bakewell. Within an hour, you can even reach the delights of Chatsworth House. A wonderful holiday home for couples discovering the Peak District.

Disley is a thriving village on the borders of North West Derbyshire and Cheshire, near the Derbyshire Peak District. The village has a range of amenities including pubs, a Post Office, restaurants and an excellent butcher. Disley is home to magnificent NT Lyme Park, where Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth was filmed. An ideal base for exploring the whole of the Peak District.

Ideal for walkers that want to go straight from the lodge as we did 3 lovely walks. I'm sure it would be lovely in warmer weather as we didn't utilise the patio area. The bath was lovely at the end of the day for a soak to soothe your legs after long walks ready for the next day. Would definitely recommend and book again.

It is spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely outdoor sitting area for warm sunny days (not much sun during our stay but that did not spoil our enjoyment. Particularly liked the location in a isolated spot but close to the shops where there is a butcher, bakers and co-op. There are plenty of attractions to visit with not much more than an hours drive. We visited Dunham Massey, Arley Hall, RHS Bridgewater, Tatton, The World of Wedgeworth and Wentworth Woodhouse. There are others as well as these. The surrounding countryside was lovely and I am sure there are some lovely walks for those that enjoy the exercise.
