Romans were initially attracted to the town of Buxton due to the constant 28 degrees Celsius of the gushing blue waters of its eight thermal springs. During the 18th and 19th centuries, however, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, the current Palladian splendour of Buxton was designed and constructed, including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House. Today, tourists continue to enjoy these spectacular buildings and gardens, together with the Opera House's full programme and annual music and arts festivals. There is excellent walking nearby, with rocky peaks to the north and pleasant hills and dales to the south, as well as a variety of charming towns and villages, such as Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale. The beautiful properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within reasonable driving distance and are must-sees for visitors to this region. An excellent location from which to explore the Peak District.

The annexe is clean, kitted out and has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. It definitely makes us want to come back and recommend to everybody.

It was just what we wanted for a lovey 'RETREAT' , a getaway from it all. Mark and Kate were very helpful. We were able to get around visiting the beautiful Derbyshire Countryside. .

This is a very petite space. Modern kitchen and bathroom. Thank you for the welcome food gifts, they were very nice. The only down side to our stay was whenever we returned to the retreat after a day out, there was a very strong potent oil fuel smell. The only ventilation was to open the stable door. Could do with a little window or some form of ventilation. Other than that a very comfortable stay.
