Guests say

Shortner Croft is highly praised for its exceptional cleanliness, well-equipped facilities, and comfortable furnishings. Nestled in a picturesque location, it offers a tranquil garden and is well-situated for exploring the Peak District. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, including a welcome pack, though these are not guaranteed. Some minor issues with mobile phone reception and access for those with limited mobility are noted.

Guests consistently commend the property for its spotless condition, with high-quality bedding and towels. There are isolated comments about minor cleaning oversights, but these do not detract from the overall excellent impressions of cleanliness.

The property's location is celebrated for its scenic beauty and proximity to walking trails, local villages, and towns. Some guests mention difficulties with mobile phone reception and the condition of the access lane, but the location's charm and convenience are well-regarded.

Comfort is a highlight, with guests finding the property well-equipped, warm, and safe. The presence of comfortable settees, beds, and a spacious wet room contribute to a relaxing stay. A suggestion for softer pillows indicates room for minor improvements.

Facilities are highly rated, with a well-equipped kitchen, secure bike storage, and a variety of entertainment options. Some guests suggest additional amenities such as a basket in the shower and blinds in the kitchen, but overall, the facilities meet guests' needs effectively.

While guests express gratitude for the welcome gifts and the provision of extra amenities, there are not enough reviews explicitly mentioning thoughtfulness related to gifts to provide a score. It is important to note that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

The croft felt warm, cosy and quiet, with lovely views from the front. we could hear the sparrows chirping away in the garden. We were in awe of the amount of equipment available in the kitchen -wow you have done yourselves proud . There was plenty of games, books and local information available too. This was our first time ever away for Christmas ,so we were slightly apprehensive regarding cooking a Christmas dinner in a different kitchen, dinner turned out lovely . We enjoyed our 2 trips to Hartington Farm cafe , lovely homecooked food , The drive to Bakewell was very scenic we were blessed with blue skies on a crisp winter day. We would thoroughly recommend Shortner Croft. Thank you to Karen and Glynn. Jackie & Rob.

Trips covered; walk to Hartington with bus back, Panto at the Buxton Opera House, walk around Goyt Valley and Errwood Ruin, Carstington reservoir dam trail, Tissington trail from Ashbourne (if doing again I'd start further up and time it for late lunch in Asbourne with the bus back to Biggin #442), Bakewell tart purchases.
