About this property

Victoria Cottage is a large cottage in the heart of the village of Norham in Northumberland. Traditional on the outside and modern on the inside, this spacious cottage is perfect for a family getaway in an area surrounded with fun activities. A walk along the hallway takes you into the fully-furnished rustic-style kitchen, which leads into the large sitting room with a log-burner stove and a view towards the historical Norham castle. Victoria Cottage comes with two carpeted bedrooms; a king and a twin, both with a lot of storage and modern decor, with the twin room benefiting from a zip/link feature for a flexible sleeping arrangement. Along with a cloakroom, the cottage has a large bath and shower room with a marble bath. This property comes with a vast glass-house conservatory containing a dining table with chairs and a sofa, onlooking the large lawned garden, with more than enough room for the children to run and play. The garden comes with lockable bike storage along with garden furniture to enjoy the summer evenings with the whole family, including your pets. This property lies just a few minutes walk from the historical centre of Norham, including a shop, pub and a nation-famous butchers. Norham Castle is just a short walk in the opposite direction if the children fancy an adventure. Outside of Norham, Berwick-upon-Tweed is less than 10 miles away, a town which offers plenty including beautiful beaches, museums, parks and more. A modernised cottage in the traditional village of Norham, this location offers activities for all of the family.

The historic village of Norham is most famous for its Norman Castle ruins, painted by Turner in 1845. The village has an excellent butcher and bakery, a Post Office, grocer, newsagent and two pubs, with an award-winning restaurant at the Wheatsheaf pub at nearby Swinton. Great enclosed large garden. Walks from the doorstep, great view of the castle. Two pubs, fantastic butcher and mobile chippy van on a Thursday night. Also local shop is well stocked. Plentiful beaches nearby, a lovely areas. A lovely relaxing break.

The cottage is spacious, clean and very comfortable. Norham is a lovely little village with two great pubs. It is a great base for exploring Northumberland and also the Scottish Borders.

Norham is a beautiful, peaceful village, with a variety of walking opportunities - perfect for dog owners. The cottage is clean and heating works efficiently. The living room and conservatory are both impressive and spacious, with one window framing Norham castle. Both bedrooms are smaller but adequate. The twin room is an internal room with no window. Various levels make the garden interesting, and so long as the side gate is bolted, it's totally enclosed for children or dogs. At night the castle is lit up and looks amazing from the upper garden. . We found inside and outdoors to be well equipped, although a floodlight for the garden would be useful on darker evenings. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and found plenty to do in this lovely region.
