About this property

Retaining many of its original features, Adderstone Cottage is a truly wonderful countryside getaway settled into the rural area of Adderstone, near Bamburgh, ideal for a family or group of adults looking to explore Northumberland. Enter into a sitting room where a stone fireplace adds a sense of heritage, housing a woodburning stove where you can warm your feet in the cooler months as guests relax in a selection of furniture. Through double doors you will discover an amply fitted kitchen, great for cooking together as a family, sporting eye-catching roof beams and tiled flooring, alongside the range cooker and oven, and you can enjoy your meal at the dining table, which can be found in an airy conservatory room with exposed stone walls and a view over open fields beyond the garden. As the utility takes care of your muddy clothes, freshen up in the shower room before snuggling up for the night in one of the three bedrooms, including a super-king-size with a TV and tasteful furniture, a king-size with a handy en-suite and a twin perfect for children. If you love alfresco dining then the garden has you covered, with the amazing options of a barbecue and your very own pizza oven! Bellshill is the closest village to the cottage, offering a pub and convenience store where you can stock up on essentials, and a little further from the property you will find the seaside town of Bamburgh, and if you love the history of Adderstone Cottage, then you will be delighted to find several historical sites, including Bamburgh Lighthouse overlooking the stunning coast, RLNI Grace Darling Museum, and last but certainly not least, the impressive Bamburgh Castle, towering over the surroundings and luring in any history lover. The coast boasts beautiful sandy beaches and rugged cliffs, so why not try out watersports or simply enjoy the salty air as you take a stroll with your four-legged family member? Bamburgh has a great selection of eateries for you to choose from, including The Potted Lobster and The Copper Kettle Tea Rooms. From here you will be able to visit the amazing Holy Island and many of the historical sites available, including Lindisfarne Priory. Fall in love with the coast and countryside of Northumberland with a stay at the historic Adderstone Cottage.

The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideally placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coastal Route, Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders. The opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from nearby Seahouses, is not to be missed. Alternatively check the tide times and cross to Holy Island to visit the historic Lindisfarne Priory.

The cottage is so comfortable and well equipped, and as soon as we walked through the door we felt at home. Beds are comfy, the cottage is warm and the conservatory is a joy, especially on a sunny morning. Masses to do in the area. Would totally recommend, and already landing next year’s stay!

Our party was 6 adults and it was very well equipped for that number of people. The conservatory was well used for eating our meals but also just sitting and looking at the view. Bedrooms were comfortable, each with a TV so no arguments about programmes to watch. Having 3 bathrooms was also a big plus as each couple had their own. There is a lovely patio area in the garden which I can imagine is perfect in the summer. Would we return? Yes, and have already booked for next year.

One of the best equipped we have ever used, both very dog and child friendly. Slight problem with one of the showers the only blip. We enjoyed being in the area very much with easy access to the coast, castles and seafood! We would like to rebook sometime in the future.
