The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Itâs a very comfortable cottage, the new bathrooms are great. We canât wait to come back. Many thanks

Fully equiped kitchen with every pot, pan, utensil you need. The bedrooms were comfortable and everyone reported a good nights sleep. The bathrooms are excellent. The garden was perfect for our dog, she enjoyed many a sunny day out there. Only negative, on arrival we could not find the cottage handbook which caused some frustration because we had no idea how to open the back doors, wifi (wifi is important as there is no mobile phone reception) etc it was only by chance I found it under a bag of kindling and newspapers by the fireplace. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would have loved to book again for next year but it is already fully booked for 2025.

It was clean and well equipped and had everything we needed. We stayed here years ago and it has been updated since then with new bathrooms and kitchen. The space is great for families to share. The only issue we had was we couldnât find a clothes horse anywhere which was a pain when doing washing and it was rainy outside. Eventually found it under one of the kids beds, but only by chance when looking for a lost teddy! Overall a great stay and Iâm sure weâll be back.
