Set by the owners’ home and sharing their 4-acre grounds, a 20-minute walk along the riverside takes you directly into Durham city where you can enjoy excellent cafés, restaurants and shopping. Steeped in history, Durham is renowned for its spectacular architecture and the unesco World Heritage site of Durham Cathedral and Castle along with its famous university which dates back to the 13th century. Enjoy a 10-minute train journey into the vibrant city of Newcastle and only 45 minutes to historical York. Shop and pub serving food 0.5 miles.

Nice place we will definitely be returning sometime in the future. Lovely walk into Durham along the river bank. Loads of places to eat in Durham. Owners on site is always a plus, very friendly and helpful.

What a fantastic find! We came to visit our son over a long weekend and this warm cottage had everything we needed - from a well-equipped kitchen to comfy sofas. The place was spotless when we arrived, and the owners were very friendly but left us to get on with things as we explored County Durham and the lovely city. The view of the cathedral as you descend Benthouse Lane is amazing.

A fabulous cottage in a beautiful, quiet location, well equipped and finished to a high standard with comfy beds. A lovely 20 minute stroll into the city centre or walk in the opposite direction for miles of countryside.Owners were friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back
