"Great Cottage. the owners are very friendly and helpfull. Our holiday review is a pity about the rain (nearly all the time 2-weeks) but the cottage was comfortable with a woodburner, so the weather was not a hardship."

"Lovely apartment in a stunning and peaceful location. Absolutely everything you could possibly need has been thought about and provided ... even things you didn't think of yourself! Dawn and Dave (the owners) are lovely people who couldn't be more helpful. Dawn's home baking is superb. We have never had such a fantastic welcome pack, or such a lovely welcome. Weather was mixed (as we expected), but plenty to see in the local area including National Trust properties, industrial heritage and some stunning scenery. We would be more than happy to return and would definitely recommend this place."

"We had a marvellous stay and would love to return. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The owners were lovely and very accommodating."

"What a hidden gem. The cottage is in a rural area so is very relaxing and peaceful but is also a short drive to Bury, Rochdale and Manchester if you like to do a bit of shopping or eating out etc. The cottage itself is immaculate and really well equipped. We holiday in the UK and can honestly say it's the best equipped cottage we've ever stayed in. The king sized bed was a fabulous addition and having access to a washing machine is a massive bonus. Dawn's home made cakes on arrival were a surprise and omg .. delicious. The grounds are amazing. The patio is lovely to just sit with a coffee or a glass of wine or you can explore down by the waterfall or surrounding area. The horses are stunning and really friendly. Zac (the bigger horse) is very gentle and his brother Sammy is a real cheeky chappie. Little Alfie the dog is adorable too and is happy to accept any attention thrown his way.Dawn and Dave are the loveliest hosts. We were made to feel really welcome from day one. They honestly go above and beyond to make your stay great. We loved getting to know the history of Oriels Retreat from them. They're also very funny so we had a lot of laughs too. We can't recommend Oriels Retreat enough. We're already looking forward to going back.Christine and Andrew"

"We had an fantastic stay at Oriels Retreat, there were some lovely welcoming gifts on arrival and the owners were so obliging and helpful. The property was well equipped and clean and we were quite happy to explore and walk the local area."

"Our holiday started immediately we arrived by the warm welcome from our host Dawn (and Dave later). When we were shown around the cottage we realised we had struck gold, from the views from the windows, to the décor and layout of the very well equipped home from home. And as for the home made cakes, jam and bread we knew we were in for a great, relaxing time. There are plenty of walks around the cottage so we never needed the car and by the end of our stay felt like we had known Dave and Dawn for years. Their love for their animals shone through and Sammy the pony and Zak the horse were hilarious not forgetting the fish in the pond chasing off the ducks. A complete stress free holiday what more could you want."

"We were very comfortable in this immaculate property. Dawn and Dave were so friendly and generous in their provision of basics and treats, and attention to detail. The woodland setting is beautiful and our bird count was high! The locality and amenity descriptions were accurate so we knew we would be talking the car out each day. Very sorry to mark location at 9 but this is only due to private approach road being rather pot-holed and rough - may not suit all cars or drivers unused to these roads."
    Gary ‐ 21 Apr 2019
"We had a wonderful time, also Dave and Dawn the owners were fantastic."
    Karl & Kayley ‐ 26 Mar 2019
"We initially booked Oriels Retreat for four weeks but enjoyed our time there so much that we decided to extend it by a further week. Every single aspect of our stay was faultless, from the hosts to the cottage itself and the surrounding areas. Our hosts, Dave and Dawn, were exceptional and made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. They looked after us throughout the duration of our stay, providing us with logs for the fire to fresh towels and bedding, along with slices of homemade cake. The cottage itself had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible and was incredibly clean and tidy throughout the duration of our time there. The surrounding areas were picturesque with plenty of walking trails and things to see, including the ruins and the waterfall. Our highlight had to be our neighbours, the horses, who were always friendly and approachable along with Alfie the dog. The thing we will miss most is the peace and quiet, especially at night time when the only thing you can hear is the occasional owl call. Not only have we found a home away from home but we have also made friends for life in Dave and Dawn. We will definitely be back in the very near future and cannot recommend Oriels Retreat enough."

"Fantastic break, lovely, clean, modern accommodation, everything on hand that was required. Owners went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable adding special touches such as homemade mince pies, Xmas cake, chocolates, crackers and cava which made the Christmas break even more special. Unlimited logs for the fire and gorgeous views, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway!"

"We only stayed at the retreat for one night, and found it so hard to leave the next day! Fantastic place, fantastic people and the walks in the area are absolutely beautiful! The owners recommended restaurants nearby to us, had the fire lit for when we arrived, and even offered to take us to pick our car up the next morning if we wanted to stay out and have a drink the night before!Don't hesitate to book. We'll definitely be back for more!"
