About this property

A fantastic cottage, newly refurbished to a high standard, located perfectly for you to enxplore The Lake District National Park.

The Sheep Pen is a fabulous converted traditional farm building between Bowness on Windermere and Kendal close to the small Hamlet of Crook. It has has been converted to a very high standard complete with a beautifully tiled bathroom with walk-in shower.

Down the stairs, you have the open plan kitchen and living area, although technically a basement room you have fantastic views of the garden and the fells beyond. As this is an old building the headroom to the lower area is quite low so you will need to be careful (watch your head!). The kingsize bedroom is located just off the living area and has a window with garden views.  Underfloor heating keeps you nice and warm.

Outside you have a small garden area with a table and chairs to enjoy an alfresco breakfast or a glass of your favourite tipple at the end of a days exploring. There is also a great Public house only 10 minutes walk away.

Overall The Sheep pen is a marvellous cottage for you to explore the Lake District National Park.

Lovely cottage in a great location. The cottage provided a great base for us and made access to the wider lakes very easy. Accommodation was cleaned to a high standard and provided high comfort levels, being plenty big enough for two and a dog. Due to covid restrictions, some expected utensils were absent from the kitchen but we were pre warned this would be the case. I would highly recommend this place to family and friends.

We had such a lovely 4 day stay here, upon booking via the Original Cottages website I asked on the special requests if they could do anything to make it special as it was my partners birthday, there was a birthday card with a bottle of prosecco and little bottle of local gin with glasses ready for us on arrival which was so lovely of them! The property was spotless and had all the utensils we needed to cook our meals as being self-catering during this pandemic was important. The outside seating area is lovely to enjoy the last bit of sunshine in the evening and the bed was really comfy too which is always needed after a long day out walking. We could not have picked a better property to stay in and the location was great too, we travelled to lots of different areas from where we was staying and it was initially easy to find upon arrival on the directions provided. Also the car was parked right outside the door so it was easy for us to carry our belongings in and knowing we had a allocated parking space. Highly recommend this to anyone who is considering staying in the Lake District. Amazing weekend!
