Snaptrip says

Guests appreciate the Gilson cottage for its stunning lakeside views and peaceful setting, ideal for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty of the Lake District. The proximity to the ferry provides convenient access to local attractions. The property offers a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and a warm, cosy atmosphere. Some guests received a welcome hamper, adding a thoughtful touch to their arrival.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the property clean and well-maintained, with no signs of previous pet stays and a clean-smelling apartment upon arrival. However, a few guests mentioned issues such as cobwebs, dirty kitchenware, and a lack of thorough cleaning in some areas, which suggests room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful lakeside setting and proximity to the ferry, offering easy access to Bowness and local walks. The serene environment and convenient location contribute to a positive experience, although some guests noted difficulties with parking due to ferry traffic.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with a relaxing view from the balcony and a cosy atmosphere. Some concerns were raised about the size of the sofa, the firmness of pillows, and the heaviness of the duvet in summer, indicating that while comfort is high, there is variability in individual preferences.

The facilities are well-regarded, with a well-appointed kitchen and the inclusion of a dishwasher and washing machine. However, guests reported issues such as a non-powerful shower, broken tiles, and maintenance needs, suggesting that while the facilities are generally good, attention to detail in maintenance could enhance the experience.

Several guests mentioned receiving a welcome hamper, which was appreciated as a thoughtful gesture. While this indicates a level of thoughtfulness in guest treatment, it is important to note that such gifts are a bonus and may not be a consistent offering for all stays.

The apartment is in a fantastic location with the added super bonus of being able to launch my paddleboard straight from the apartment onto Windermere. Will definitely be booking this apartment again. We left the windows open on the morning of our departure as when we arrived all the windows were closed and there was a strange smell downstairs, not sure if it was from the drains or due to the work that had been carried out previous to our stay. Ps the arrival hamper was a nice touch, thank you.

No one informed us or other guests that the ferry was out of action for months. This meant I could not use a disability scooter I had ordered because we could not get to Kendall. Our dog and myself drank the tap water and both of us came down with a stomach upset. Mine severe enough to last for 6 days. We packed up and came home a day early because I felt so ill. A real shame because we stayed in the same apartment last October and it was wonderful. Never again. Sorry.

The second day - Saturday the heating broke when on the Monday we eventually contacted the owners. They seemed to know that the accommodation had a heating fault. We were moved - but we had to do it all ourselves, food, clothes etc etc. we were offered no help and it took at least most of the day from our stay. Not even a new welcome pack or indeed a part of one. Very disappointing - the size of the bed in the Gilson is smaller than that in Frost - nor is there a bath,
