This is our fourth visit to Skiddaw View and once again, we do hope to return. The apartment is approached via an alley between two shops. Unfortunately it is a decidedly grotty and unkempt entrance- which in truth doesn’t do the apartment justice. It is very dark and totally unlit, with weeds and moss covering the pathway - a bit of a hazard, especially in the dark! Once through the door you enter a very chilly and damp downstairs passage before heading up to the first floor of the apartment. Upstairs is a lovely, warm and welcoming space, but is in need of some TLC, a deep clean and a lick of paint throughout. This visit, the kitchen was much less well equipped than on previous years, but we made do.The central window frame in the main living area is broken and needs repairing as it’s currently not very safe. The mould in the bathroom still needs addressing.Overall we love our visits to Skiddaw View. Its location is ideal, with a variety of walks from the doorstep, in addition to its proximity to supermarkets and bus routes. The provision of the parking permit is a nice touch given the difficulties in parking locally, otherwise. The heating at the apartment is very effective, and the washing machine is very useful (we have four small muddy children who LOVE our Lake District holidays and all the rain and mud which inevitably comes with it). This year we actually took our own heated dryer to assist with the turnaround of the washing, but it would be great if one was provided (there is a very small wire dryer which we try to perch in front of a radiator, sometimes with success).Overall good value for money, and a great location, providing good accommodation for our family.

That alley could of been bit cleaner with a bit more light but we did have a good stay and would book again
