We booked Garries cottage quite late - in November for a mid - winter break in January of 2026. Of course we knew that at this time of year you need a bit of luck weather wise, and that'sa what we got. Out of the week only 1.5 days were wet, which was brilliant. But if we couldn't have gone out, we would have been very happy staying in the cottage. It was clean, the open plan kitchen diner / living room worked well for us and everything was great. But this isn't a big cottage, but it was fine for the two of us and a black Labrador, who loved it. The woods just at the rear were great for his late night toilet (which we cleaned up ! I hasten to add) and there are plenty of great walks right from the door. We didn't quite make the summit of Skiddaw, which is really close, but we did get to top of the mountain next to it.It says only space for one car, but the owner was very happy to let my niece visit for two nights - there is plenty of space and you will be looked after. The owner is absolutely fabulous and no one could ask for a nicer host.Put simply 5 stars is not enough - we will definately be back. From all three of us - THANK YOU
Samantha
Had a lovely relaxing stay at the cottage. It's small but lovely and warm and cosy; the garden is a wildlife haven. Perfectly located to bag northern Wainwrights from the doorstep including Skiddaw. Marlene was a lovely host and really helpful, especially when storm bran caused a couple of issues!
