Enclosed lawned garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. 1 acre landscaped grounds (shared with owner). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There are 5 steps in the grounds.. This delightful and charming, semi-detached Grade II listed cottage, adjacent to the owners home, dates from the 1600s and is set in its own delightful garden and with access to the owners’ grounds, in the quiet village of Little Strickland. Great care has been taken with the accommodation and it offers many interesting features including slate floors, and the beamed ceilings and wonderful wood burner all add to the character of The Barracks, making it well worth a visit whatever the time of year.
While Haweswater and Ullswater are a short drive from the cottage, the list of places you can explore and visit from here are endless, with the Eden valley and the Scottish Borders are all within easy driving distance. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a peaceful location ideal for exploring northern Lake District. The weather wasn’t particularly kind to us while we were there (Storm Dave) but we stayed snug and warm, and still managed to get out and about exploring. Host is just next door if you need anything.
