Guests say

Cat Bells offers a superb central location in Keswick with the added benefit of a dedicated parking space, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and renovated bathroom, as well as the light-filled rooms. While the property is clean and comfortable, several reviews note that the décor and furnishings are dated and would benefit from refurbishment. Some maintenance issues and intermittent WiFi have been mentioned, but overall, guests enjoy their stays and many return for repeat visits.

Most guests found the property clean, particularly the bathroom and kitchen, though some noted areas needing a deeper clean, such as dust on skirting boards and pillow protectors requiring attention.

The location is consistently praised, with guests highlighting its central position in Keswick, proximity to shops and Derwentwater, and the convenience of a dedicated parking space.

Guests generally found the property comfortable, appreciating the lounge and overall space. However, some mentioned tired furnishings, sagging beds, and dated décor as areas for improvement.

The kitchen is well-equipped and the bathroom recently renovated, but several maintenance issues were noted, including unreliable WiFi, ageing furniture, and overdue PAT testing on appliances.

There were no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Cat Bells is in a great location but is suffering from neglect. On arrival, there is a broken bench by the front door, with unswept leaves. The bathroom is in the best shape; looks like it has been renovated recently, but there is mould around the bath seal. The bath can't be used as the tap has been sealed off and drips continually - a waste of water. The kitchen is passable - button to open the microwave doesn't work well. All the PAT testing certificates are over a year out of date and the one on the washing machine is blank....Lounge is comfortable and a decent TV but like other rooms, isn't very clean - there is thick dust on the skirting boards. Bedroom OK - bed sags but that was OK for me. I knew some of these shortcomings when I booked, but it was reasonably priced and well located and there wasn't much else available. However, I will be coming back with more notice and I think there is better in Keswick for a little more money. It's a shame as it could be fabulous if looked after and renovated - new windows at the front are also desperately needed.
