Superbly renovated, this detached, former blacksmith’s forge offers very comfortable and well-appointed, single-storey, detached accommodation for a couple close to the cathedral city of Lincoln in the village of Saxilby. Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore the area or simply a relaxing holiday home, then The Old Forge has it all. In a secluded location within the owners’ grounds, it is only a short walk to the shops, local pub and restaurants, as well as the canal connecting the River Trent to the vibrant Brayford Wharf in Lincoln. Lincoln Cathedral and Castle, housing the Magna Carta Centre, are a short drive away, located in the Bailgate area of Lincoln with its many restaurants and shops, and a walk down the hill into the centre of the city and the Brayford Wharf area. Newark Showground is about 20 minutes’ drive away and is well known for its international antique fairs. There are walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as golf courses and fishing in the local area. Shop 20 yards, pub 200 yards, restaurant 1/2 mile.

Lovely cottage not too far from home but ideal for Lincolnshire Wolds and coast. Cottage is cosy and everything you need, shop across the road is excellent and open everyday 7-10👍, transport links great local bus to Lincoln and Gainsborough/Scunthorpe plus train 2mins walk away 👍, would definitely recommend, and appreciated the welcome treats. Will return again.

Wonderful stay in quiet place close to the centre of Saxilby. The host was friendly, welcoming and provided a really well presented cottage style accommodation. A welcome pack wad provided, and the wood burner was a very useful addition to the stay, providing a cheery and warming evening boost on some chilly nights. Highly recommend this place and wouldn't hesitate to stay again...
