Superbly renovated, this detached, former blacksmith’s forge offers very comfortable and well-appointed, single-storey, detached accommodation for a couple close to the cathedral city of Lincoln in the village of Saxilby. Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore the area or simply a relaxing holiday home, then The Old Forge has it all. In a secluded location within the owners’ grounds, it is only a short walk to the shops, local pub and restaurants, as well as the canal connecting the River Trent to the vibrant Brayford Wharf in Lincoln. Lincoln Cathedral and Castle, housing the Magna Carta Centre, are a short drive away, located in the Bailgate area of Lincoln with its many restaurants and shops, and a walk down the hill into the centre of the city and the Brayford Wharf area. Newark Showground is about 20 minutes’ drive away and is well known for its international antique fairs. There are walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as golf courses and fishing in the local area. Shop 20 yards, pub 200 yards, restaurant 1/2 mile.

A lovely, well equipped cottage, ideally situated for exploring Lincoln and the surrounding area.Lincoln was easily accessible by train, which cost less than a days parking for 2 people, and the journey was around 11 mins.There was a much appreciated Welcome Pack when we arrived.

The cottage was excellent well equipped and ideally placed for visiting local attractions . The welcome pack was excellent and throughly enjoyed.. The. Gardens were really lovely and we enjoyed sitting out and enjoying them . David and Sue were very welcoming and we would throughly recommend The Old Forge for a holiday .
