Superbly renovated, this detached, former blacksmith’s forge offers very comfortable and well-appointed, single-storey, detached accommodation for a couple close to the cathedral city of Lincoln in the village of Saxilby. Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore the area or simply a relaxing holiday home, then The Old Forge has it all. In a secluded location within the owners’ grounds, it is only a short walk to the shops, local pub and restaurants, as well as the canal connecting the River Trent to the vibrant Brayford Wharf in Lincoln. Lincoln Cathedral and Castle, housing the Magna Carta Centre, are a short drive away, located in the Bailgate area of Lincoln with its many restaurants and shops, and a walk down the hill into the centre of the city and the Brayford Wharf area. Newark Showground is about 20 minutes’ drive away and is well known for its international antique fairs. There are walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as golf courses and fishing in the local area. Shop 20 yards, pub 200 yards, restaurant 1/2 mile.

Superb conversion, cosy and private. Location has all modes of transport just minutes away, with attractions such as Lincoln, Doddington and Gainsborough easily available. Would definitely return.

Very good property in good location.Road is noisy and tap water is not pleasant.fish and chip shop excellent but local pub is unreliable for food.
