What our customers say about their holidays

    • Faiza - Verified booking

We had a lovely stay however there are a few issues we would like to raise: - Cold pool, advertised as heated between May and Sept.

On arrival (Friday) it was cold and remained cold until Monday. The owner arrived back on Sunday and advised us that she had turned it off while she was away and would start the heating up process. So we missed out on 2 and half days of heated pool. The pool was freezing and we based the purchase of this holiday on the fact it was a heated pool so we could have use of a warm pool despite what the British Weather threw at us. This appeared to be the norm and no apology was offered up. We did mention in leaving form and feel we should be compensated for this. - Moths, forgot to mention this on the leaving form. The property is beautifully clean, However there are a lot of moths and there were present in the built in wardrobes. So we did not unpack we lived out of our suitcases. Possibly needs a bug spray, as no one wants to take moths home to their wardrobes. - The Owner. Now we know she lives on site, its her home. But on occasion it did feel like we were being watched. She sat on the end sofa by the pool and it kind of put you off coming out into the garden, assuming we could use the facilities at all hours (late evening). This definitely put my eldest off from going out on his own or use the pool without one of us present. Its not something you can raise while on holiday as you would feel awkward for the rest of the break. She probably shouldn't encourage children to do handstands on the diving board as she is not aware of their skill levels, thankfully we were there to control that. Plus it feels odd that we are using the pool and her neighbour/cleaner comes along to have a swim in the evening to. It does feel like an open house where the neighbour drops by un-announced which puts you on guard as you don't know the people wondering around the property. Maybe a note mentioning that people will be dropping by and a note referencing when the pool will be closed every evening so you can get your late swims in.

I have two young children and we really enjoyed our stay.

Its a lovely house with underfloor heating and a fire in the lounge which made it very cosy and warm. We even sat in the conservatory looking out into the garden for another peaceful coffee spot. The master bed is massive with comfy crisp bedding and easy to see into the kids room if needed. The shower is lovely, hot and powerful. The hot tub was great, easy to open and private. The pool we knew would be cold as its winter but it was great that we could still go in it for a challenge. The kids enjoyed the inflatable boat that Robin had provided, pretending they were on an adventure and staying out of the water. We even managed a game of tennis on the court. It was nice to meet the owner (Robin) and we enjoyed seeing her around and chatting with her. We would have been happy to share the garden with next door although there was no one in when we were there but it would be a great community feel. Robin let us collect and have the apples and feed the chickens too. We took bikes and there was a hose to wash them down and were stored safety round the back of the house. The area is quiet, flat and great for a spot of road biking. The foss way is a 10 min cycle away or if you have kids that can't go on the road yet you can park at the pub (5 min drive) and access the foss way (canal type of cycle path) We loved Skellingthorpe woods to cycle round and stop at all the dens that had been built.

We have used this cottage several times, mainly during the colder winter months and whilst an unpopular time for some, we take advantage of the gorgeous log burner and the amazing hot tub!

First set of logs supplied complimentary with additional logs available at an extremely reasonable price! Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom make one’s feet tingle with delight! The layout of the cottage is excellent but to note that for an older person the stairs as in an older cottage maybe a little steep but also bear in mind there is s sofa bed and accessible facilities downstairs. A modern fully equipped kitchen, a lovely conservatory which also takes you out to the pool area where there is a changing room and bathroom for use by the pool! So in contrast to all of those factors that make this cottage so cosy and welcoming, a little mad I know but the ladies take advantage of the swimming pool!!!!! Yes at outside temperatures of 2 and 3 degrees!!!!!! They say it is just mind over matter and reap the benefits of how the body reacts to the cold making it an invigorating and positive experience! Look up the Wim Hof method and all will become clear! Our host Robin absolutely cares! We had a welcome tray of delightful home baked chocolate brownies left with milk, fizz and spectacular fresh eggs from the chickens she keeps! The perfect host who is attentive and goes the extra mile to make things right! Simply spending a week or a weekend there is a real treat! We love it….

From the first moment we stepped into the cottage we all felt at home and at ease.

It is tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. Alison had left us a very generous welcome pack, very thoughtful lady. Everything you would need in the kitchen was on hand .The garden was fenced off so we knew our dog would be safe and happy. Our short break was based on us being able to relax and be comfortable see the local area and walk our dog, millcott ticked all our boxes and more. Lovely comfortable living space, spacious bedrooms and most importantly super clean very comfortable mattresses. There are tracks at the side of the cottage for walking which go on for miles, hardly see anyone, just enjoy the views and the peacefulness of the lincolnshire countryside. After a long walk relax in the family sized hot tub, listening to the birds by day and looking up to the stars by night. A truly memorable short break . There's also a lovely friendly pub up the road called the royal oak, the sunday dinner is amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Definately recommend a visit. All in all our stay at millcott was relaxing and very enjoyable we couldnt fault a thing, we will definately be booking again.

We had such a lovely week at Pool Cottage.

The cottage itself was lovely and had everything we needed. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The pool really made the holiday. We all used it every day, even in the rain. The kids loved the diving board. Hot tub was great as well. We played tennis every day too. The garden itself is also very pretty and the chickens were lovely. Robin was a lovely host. She made you feel very welcome and it was lovely to chat with her. The brownies she made went down a treat and she was kind enough to let us have the ingredients to bake more one day. Fresh eggs from the chickens and a bottle of wine were a nice touch as well. We have recommended it to friends who have also stayed and would definitely recommend it to others. Lincoln Castle and Cathedral were a nice day out, Burton Waters boat hire was good, and we had a good day at Skegness Fantasy Island. Lots more to do as well but nice to relax by the pool.
