What our customers say about their holidays

The two couples who stayed at this address were welcomed to the property - flowers, fudge, fruit basket awaited us, the log fire burning brightly.

This was very well received as the journey had been fairly difficult with the amount of traffic and heavy rain all the way. One of our party, elderly, and having a stroke some years ago, collapsed during the morning in the downstairs bathroom. I ran to the property owner, and used his phone for a 999 call for an ambulance, the owner of the property was able to explain exactly how to get to the house, as it was difficult up a long rough lane. He then stayed with the patient talking trying to wake him, taking pulses and listening to breathing. He was superb staying almost 1.5 hrs until ambulance staff arrived taking over. Thankfully our friend was fine again by the afternoon, Mr and Mrs Thomas were friendly, and helpful, allowing us to take our two dogs into a field with less mud after the heavy rain. They adjusted the central heating almost immediately after asking for assistance with this. The property is very nice, beds very comfortable. Good book selection, and paperwork on local amenities. Yes we would consider a summer visit, to be in superb countryside and wonderful views, where our grandsons could help feed the resident pigs, horses and chickens. We know the area well, so for us no difficulty in driving up to the property, We also came home with home killed pork and beef which was on sale from the owners. Yes a very good property, with kindly owners where nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Carole Duckett,

The weather was wet and windy - but the cottage was warm, dry and welcoming.

We particularly loved the "bar" area. It was great to sit there for morning coffees, games or meals and we all now want a bar like that at home in our kitchen! Luxurious bathrooms (2 showers plus a big bath tub meant there were no queues even after a long wet walk!), comfortable beds, the big wood burner in the spacious living room and the well equipped kitchen made our autumn stay extremely enjoyable and the mezzanine bedroom made the cottage stand out from the rest. There is no dishwasher, but that was fine for us as we managed to get our pre-teens involved in the kitchen chores! And yes, the last part of the road up to the farm is tricky when there is oncoming traffic, but that is a small price to pay for the fantastic, secluded location in the middle of the moor where we met lots of ponies and sheep but very few people during our walks. Our springer spaniel enjoyed the freedom of the enclosed garden and never escaped... and we were very happy to have found such a special place with such friendly and helpful hosts to escape to before the next lockdown! ,

Our Autumn break was a huge success.

WhiteTor Farm is a wonderful place to stay situated on a hill off the beaten track, steeped in history with lots of animals within and on the outskirts. The accommodation was perfect for us with comfy beds, lots of hot water, light and airy. The owners were delightful, leaving us some organic milk, eggs from the farm and some homemade chocolate cookies. Our two small dogs had a good time too and settled quickly. The location was perfect for visiting the local area during the day - we went to Tavistock, Okehampton, Plymouth, Saltash over the Tamar and of course we ventured deep into the moors where we saw an abundance of cows, sheep and beautiful ponies and visited three delightful villages. Make sure that you take some provisions with you for day/night one as it is a 1.5hr round trip walking into Peter Tavy where there isn't a local store but there is a pub with great food. A perfect getaway treat for great relaxation.

The Owners were welcoming and friendly.

We did have a few issues which did get sorted although the oven took a week. The beds were comfortable and the barn was warm, the settees left a lot to be desired. The woodburner popped on top outside when lit even when the damper was closed definitely needs servicing. Worst thing is the road it is more potholes than road I can't see the council doing anything with this being a no through road when there are so many other roads needing attention, maybe they can try and do something themselves, there are no passing places and on meeting a land rover and trailer I had to reverse quarter of a mile until he could pass. It did stop us going back lunch time to go back out in afternoon as one bone shaker a day was quite sufficient.

This stay by far exceeded my expectations.

The photos don’t do the accommodation justice, it was beautiful. When we opened the door we were wowed. The one thing I was upset about being away from home for Christmas was not having a Christmas tree, but to my surprise there had a beautiful tree set up in the living room which was beyond perfect. It was homely, spacious, cosy, with stunning views. Lovely local walks to take the dog. Only thing I will say is don’t underestimate the narrow roads around the area and road leading to the cottage, it’s bumpy, dark and quite a squeeze with a large 4x4 but it just made the journey even more exciting. Ellen and her partner were a delight. Definitely will be staying again.
