About this property

With a large garden, fabulous first floor balcony and beautiful countryside views, Teign House is a stunning modern holiday home in Shaldon for an unforgettable family getaway!

You’re welcomed with a stunning spacious hallway, with doors and corridors in all directions to deliver you to the many varied parts of this huge home! At the heart of the home is your enormous open-plan kitchen and dining room. A table for eight sits at the centre, gloriously lit by stylish spot lighting through the whole room, with a sofa to its other side beside a huge wall of patio doors. To the far end is the vast kitchen, with fabulous built-in facilities and a wonderful island which doubles up as a breakfast bar, ideal for snacking, casual meals and keeping the chef company! For relaxed time spent together head into your lovely living room, with tons of sofa space in front of the TV for everyone to gather together.

There are four magnificent bedrooms in total, including the wonderful master-suite on the first-floor featuring a private glass-enclosed terrace! Each continues this sophisticated, contemporary design, with two double rooms and two twin rooms. All bar the ground-floor twin room enjoy magnificent ensuite facilities, including bathtubs, separate showers and even a balcony leading directly from one of them!

And finally, step out into your wonderfully fresh garden, lined with mature trees and the calming sounds of nature. Take a seat in the garden and enjoy the fresh sea-air, as the children frolic on the lawn and you soak up the famous sunshine of the Devon coast.

You’re perfectly located just outside the quaint village of Shaldon to enjoy a range of boutique shops and cafes, restaurants and country pubs, with the famous beach huts on Shaldon’s seashore just a short walk away. For a dramatic day in nature visit the Shaldon Cliffs, the local Zoo and the Teignmouth Circular walking route – and for a city-break, you’re less than half an hour from the vibrant streets (above and below ground!) of Exeter! The wonderful beach of Ness Cove is just seconds away, and there’s some seriously fine-dining in the village, including the award winning Ode Restaurant.

Enjoy the warm, welcoming and easy-going folk of the West Country, and the endless sandy beaches, fossil cliffs, medieval towns and national parks of Devon, a truly unmissable county!

For a perfect day in the fresh air and sunshine, Exmoor National Park and the 954km2 Dartmoor National Park, with their endless rugged moorland, woodland, farmlands and valleys sprinkled with granite tors are ideal for walking, horse riding, mountain biking, climbing and much more! The magnificent Jurassic Coast, comprising 95 miles of coastline with 185 million years of geological history is well worth a visit, with the South West Coast Path running along a large section of it.

If you’re after a traditional English beach trip with the added delight of white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and world-class sailing and surfing, you will not be disappointed! Devon has two separate coastlines: to the south is the English Channel and to the north, the Irish Sea and Bristol Channel.

The sublime English Riviera, a series of picturesque, south-coast harbour towns, is the nickname of the magnificent southern coastline. Torquay is one of the main highlights: a delightful seaside resort town well known for its beaches such as Babbacombe and the cliffside Oddicombe. Torquay Harbour offers shops, cafes and a marina, while the nearby Torre Abbey, a monastery founded in 1196, has art galleries and extensive gardens. The smaller seaside town of Ilfracombe can be found on the northern coastline, and is a small, hilly harbour surrounded by cliffs.

And for a lively city, to the south-east is Exeter on the River Exe, with its Roman era City Walls, vaulted, medieval underground passages and stunning Gothic cathedral, built in the 12th-century. To the west of the county you’ll find the larger city of Plymouth, with a fine display of its maritime tradition in the Barbican’s Tudor and Jacobean buildings and Sutton Harbour’s heritage trail. Both cities have bustling high-streets and lively nightlife thanks to the sizeable student populations!

Notable events in the area include the Devon County Show in Exeter each May, the Dartmouth Royal Regatta in August and the British Firework Championships in Plymouth also in August.

If flying to the area, Exeter International operates flights between Paris CDG, Amsterdam and countless UK cities, and the nearby Bristol International Airport has nearly 80 destinations.

Amazing property, very well equipped, and we had a fantastic week there, despite some dodgy weather. Would so love to have been able to make use of the patio and its furniture - must be a real suntrap in the height of summer.

Shaldon was a relatively quite coastal resort with lovely properties and plenty to do in the local vicinity. Property was a lovely house, spacious and very well placed for Ness Cove and Shaldon itself. Ferry to Teignmouth was great and Teignmouth was a really well kept resort with plenty of lovely restaurants. Highlights of our week - Dinner at Fresco, Teignmouth; afternoon tea at Ode café, Shaldon; Devon Sea Safari boat trip from Teignmouth; Coasteering with Rock Solid and beautiful walks on and around Dartmoor
