About this property

Corn cottage is a superb property, in the heart of an AONB, and benefits from having free access to the owner's award winning nature reserve and lakeside tea rooms, Lower Bruckland Farm Nature Reserve.  This wonderful holiday home is equipped to a high standard and offers excellent accommodation, perfect for family, friends and couples who love to be in a peaceful location.  A beautifully presented barn conversion which is bright and spacious and only a short drive from the Jurassic Coast, the popular seaside town of Lyme Regis and the pretty East Devon villages of Beer and Branscombe.

Guests have unlimited use of the nature reserve adjacent to Lower Bruckland Farm which is an award-winning area of natural beauty.  Situated on the border of East Devon and Dorset, its accessibility and the shelter afforded by the brimming hedgerows ensures that time spent on the grounds will be in peaceful and pleasant surroundings, making the site ideal for artists and photographers, walkers, and people with an interest in nature and wildlife.  There are also a number of landscaped lakes, which at the same time are an important home to a variety of species, all varied in size and aspect and quite distinct owing to the flowing, interesting contours of the land. Visitors who are around at sundown will appreciate the spectacular sunsets that can be seen from the lakeside cafe, named 'Rattys tea rooms' after one of the famous characters in the novel Wind in the Willows.

The ancient small village of Colyton, the picturesque Axe River and estuary is also very nearby amidst the unspoilt countryside. The famous South West Coast Path lies close by with spectacular views across Lyme Bay. The local villages are fortunate to have a good choice of public houses, offering a selection of locally sourced produce and local beers. The Axe Estuary Wetlands is very nearby, a well managed wildlife reserve. A large number of birds congregate to feed on the mud flats and salt marshes and these can be viewed at close quarters from one of many hides strategically located along the reserve.
