"Would have liked warning about entrance to property; very narrow and bumpy track. Disappointed with cleanliness of property; dirty floors (dropped water in kitchen on arrival and when we cleaned it up the cloth was filthy), toilet brush holders were with filled with dirty water and downstairs plug was very grotty. On a positive note, we had a lovely week there with 4 adults and 2 dogs: easy walk into Wirksworth - with a nice pub (Hope & Anchor), superb chip shop, lovely butchers, coffee shops and supermarket/petrol station - so amenities handy. We were in just right spot to explore canal boat trip (Birdswood), Carsington Water (reservoir), Crich Tram Village, Ecclestone Steam train (based in Wirksworth - walking distance from cottage) - all of these were lovely and dog-friendly. Also popped to Bakewell - quaint place. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend it to people for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay."

"What an amazing week. We had a fabulous time at S15987. A lovely farm cottage on a working farm. (Despite the dreadful weather, rain or mist most days), we would all choose to stay there again. Great location. Well equipped and maintained. Huge cottage and garden. Beautiful walks on the farm. Terry the owner was very kind and welcoming, he showed us round the farm and we loved seeing how the lambs were growing daily (we stayed in April) 10 min drive to Alton Towers. We also did a day trip to Buxton and Poole Cavern which we all enjoyed. Happiest times were walking on the farm, and in the cottage or garden with our children and the extensive children's toys available within the cottage. The children have all asked if we can return and not visit Alton Towers but spend more time on the farm or in the local area which we were unable to get into much as it was so wet. Thanks so much Terry we hope to stay again."

"Nice and well equipped cottage, probably a bit small if fully occupied, but fine for two and a dog. The back garden is on multiple levels and our dog loved it, plus the thoughtful biscuits left by the owner. Access is predominantly via the back entrance, as the side entrance is shared with the farm across the yard, and whilst the front entrance can be used it a bit of an obstacle course as there are farm railings and sheepdogs in the way!Not really a cottage for people who are not mobile, given the multiple level back entrance and the multiple levels in the cottage itself. The cottage is located near to many walks more or less straight out of the door and there are many local pubs all of a good standard, particularly the Packhorse. The lane leading to the cottage is a bit potholely and the turn leading into the track leading to the cottage is a bit tricky. All in all we enjoyed our stay there."

"This was for a few days near Derby before my daughter's wedding in the city, for a three-generation family group. We used the ground floor bedroom and bathroom, whilst my partner's daughter and her husband used the inter-connecting bedrooms upstairs for themselves and the children. The lounge and kitchen are open-plan, and also upstairs. The cottage itself is at the end of a lane in a very rural area, but with shops, pubs*, etc only a few miles away. So the setting is very quiet, except for the beautiful peacocks/hens which roam the garden and sometimes stare into ground floor windows! As would be expected in an old building, there are many steps of varying heights to get used to, and in some places slightly sloping floors - but generally this adds to the charm.*The Cow at Dalbury Lees (a couple of miles away) is recommended."

"This property is amazing. Top of the range appliances in the kitchen and so well kitted out with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. There is an ironing board, iron and Hoover. The bedrooms are even bigger in reality than they appear on the website and the second kitchen was ideal for my daughter to use to prep bottles etc for her baby. The gym was well equipt too so enjoyed a couple of sessions in it.The games room exceeded expectations, pool/table tennis table, X box, board games and small library. The utility room housed a dryer and was a great place for the dogs to dry off after their walks. Then it's a fridge freezer in the kitchen and further fridges in the second kitchen and utility room.I would highly recommend this property, I don't think anyone could find anything to be disappointed about."
